sorry, not familiar with that. Familiar with Laurel, Maryland - by Fort Meade area. Familiar with the Rockville area and a little bit of Burtonsville. Living on base/post or out in town?

Andrews Air Force Base is in Prince George's County. I work for Prince George's County Public Schools and I can tell you that the schools are not great. If you can handle a little bit of a commute you will get much better schools. I live in Anne Arundel County (30 minutes from the schools where I work) and the schools I'm zoned for have a great reputation, though I don't have kids yet so I don't have any personal experience with them.

Same sentiments. I don't have kids, but we lived in Laurel, MD for a little bit (which is considered Prince George's County, PG County is what the locals call it) You do not want your kids in PG County. Depending on finances, the Rockville area (i.e. Montgomery County wayyy better) is known by reputation for a better school system. When we lived there years ago - It didn't matter, b/c we didn't have kids. But, co-workers at the firm I worked for in Rockville asked me that when I got hired warning me not to put the kids in there. I don't have any?? I replied. OH good, if you get pregnant and have kids. Move to Rockville. So be cautious. Where we lived in Laurel. There were 'good' pockets in the city and 'bad' pockets in the city. So it really depended on where you lived. But you just have to be careful. There was a stabbing once at Laurel Mall right when we were moving and I was like this is crazy,,,get me out of here. We relocated to McLean, which is wayyyy nicer and also alooooot more expensive, but the schools are great there. Grazie. Ciao!

I agree, PG Co is a little rough. Stick with Anne Arundel, Howard, or Montgomery for public schools. There's a couple nice private ones around PG but they are pricey.
