We scold our ratties and I think they know when they are in trouble because they'll cower in the corner and look oh so innocent. I feel bad when I scold them and dh tells me that's why they don't listen when I get :reallymad.

I do. I don't always feel good about doing it, but they definitely know what's going on. Once my voice changes to 'scold' mood, the guilty one always goes to the crate - never fails. If I don't know who did something - like raiding the trash - scolding them always ferrets out the guilty party!

i try to scold him but he just runs behind the couch and hides or rolls on his back and gives me this look like "mommy i'm sorry don't get mad"

Yeah Tha Woosnort knows he's in trouble before I ever even have to scold him. He will hide, or come shaking and tail btwn the legs to tell me he's sorry before I even find the pee or poo he left for me.

The Boxers are VERY emotional, you even look at them wrong and thier faces get all droppy and slink off to their cages. They HATE getting yelled at.

We try, but they are so spoiled that they get away with almost everything.

Especially the dogs, they get this guilty face and pout :giggle

My girls know when they are in trouble. Maycie is still learning quite a bit, but Sophie will get this HORRIBLE sad face and go curl up on her bed and sulk for a while.. then she'll come over and put her head in your lap and look up at you with this HORRIBLE PITIFUL face.

Maybe it's a Hawaiian dog thing - our younger dog we adopted in Hawaii from the shelter is a BIG back talker! I'm always saying, "Don't you talk back to me!" and dh laughs at me. :lmao

That is so true! In fact dh told bruce this morning to get out of the bedroom...he didn't even really yell. When we came out to the living room he was sulking in his crate. I told dh he better tell bruce he can come out, he thinks your mad at him. They are very emotional...but I love it!

I just shake my finger at them and tell them bad and alex definetly gets the idea and he goes to his cage and lays down but bell does not care about it.

My dog is too honest and puts herself to bed when she does something wrong. LOL.

My cat on the other hand is a stinker!! He constantly talks back to us when we tell him not to do something. Sometimes he whines and complains. Sometimes when he gets too wild, we have to put him on a time out in the bathroom for about 10 minutes so he can calm down. I have no idea what was in the water when he was born!

I constantly berate Napoleon about his weight, and cut him down everychance I get.
