I came here hoping to find some sanity. So hello everyone! My name is Megan, I'm 18, in college, and I've been an army girlfriend for about 7 months now. In a few really short months I get to go through my first deployment (and it's a long one) as an army girlfriend. This is the first guy that I have ever REALLY loved and i'm very nervous are him going and being able to get through the 15 month deployment with most of my sanity intact. I've gotten some really good ideas already, you all have been really helpful.

A little more about me...like I said, I'm in college. I'm going to the University of Wisconsin La Crosse for Physical Therapy (so if any of you are in that area, feel free to visit). I could really use even just someone to talk to. None of my friends really understand what it's like. They all believe that long distance relationships can't work, so they're not really supportive.

Deployments can be hard; they can be made easier by you. Keep busy! Dont give into depression...if you feel like you dont want to get out of bed, get out of bed. Be good to you!

I'm sorry to hear you are going through a tough time. I know how much it wears on your sanity. Just keep yourself busy and take one day at a time. It is hard when you are going through things that none of your friends seem to understand. You know they mean well, it's just they haven't had to experience this time of long distance relationship before. It doesn't get easier, but if you keep yourself busy the days will pass and before you know it, he'll be home again.

Welcome to sos... I'm kinda new to the whole army thing as well... i married my husband as a civilian and about 6 months ago he came home from work with the brilliant idea of joining the army...of course i have supported him along the way... i wish i had talke him out of it...lol
