I went in today for my appt. baby boy is still head down and is measuring about 1.5 weeks larger than expected. I have gained a total of 7lbs and my blood pressure is great. I barely failed my 1hr glucose test so when I get back from Japan I have to go in for the 3 hr. Any advice/experiences?! Have any of you dealt with something similar?

OMG it's Andrea!

I failed my one hour test and barley passed my 3 hour test. What did you eat the night before or before the test?

I failed the one hour and did the 3 hour. It isn't bad, except for being bored. Make sure you bring something to keep yourself busy. Luckily I passed the 3 hour one and hit McDonalds afterwards since I was starving.

I had corn on the cob the night before, salad, multigrain rice and chicken for dinner. I had an English Muffin with Peanut Butter and a Soy Chai before hand.

Maybe I will bring the laptop with me! :hehe I can SOS while I am there.

i failed my one hour and had to go to the three hour one. i had to fast for the three hour and it blew, make sure to bring something light to eat for when it is over so you don't feel like complete crap. and try and do it early in the morning so that you can have regular meals afterward.

I failed both of mine. Just make sure you totally fast before your 3 hour one .

with the 3 hour, if you DON"T have to fast (some places say yes, some say no) make sure you stick more with proteins. avoid carbs and sugars (including fruit and juice). if you CAN eat, i'd try to get a little something. i fasted for both of mine and i think that made me a whole lot more nauseous and stuff after chugging the drink. definitely bring a book or laptop and don't let them forget about you. they told me just to come up to the door every hour so they didnt' forget.

:goodluck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions. (i failed the 3 hour with my first pregnancy and passed with my second lol).

The english muffin could have caused it to be high. I had gestational diabetes, you will have to follow a diet. It's really not that bad. Watch your carb intake, but if you do fail the three hour I'm sure that they will send you to a class so that you can learn what to eat. Good luck and if you have any questions let me know.

as for your food...

your corn is a carb so that turns to sugar, don't think of corn as a veggie think of it as a carb so if you eat corn have a veggie aswell!

your salad was good but it also depends on your dressing! try to stay away from like ranch dressing because of the dairy because of the carbs in it, try a lighter dressing.

your rice and chicken are great just watch how much you eat!

your english muffin is ok just watch the peanut butter very high in carbs when mixing both the muffin and the peanut butter as for your soy chai was it a bottle tea? if so and average chai drink has about 27 gram of carbs and 25 grams of sugars so thats alot of sugar count....I usually try to stay away from the chai drinks because of that. But if it was just plain tea with no added sugars you will be fine with that.

that's really weird that what you ate the night before affected it. i ate the morning of my glucose test (a fruit and nut granola trail mix bar) and my results were still normal. good luck hun

did you know when they do a glucose test they can actually test your average numbers for the past 3 months? its amazing what they can do..my doctor does mine every few months to make sure my A1C levels are good.
