on a chair is one of the exercises they said that we should do to open our pelvis'...My DH had me do it, after working all day and i was soooooooooooo sore after and I think the baby was mad.

DH then asked me if I did the curb thing, and I said yes thats the first thing someone with orthopedic issues wants to do.

did anyone else use these silly things they tell you to do?

what is the curb thing? What are some of the other things. I"m not pregnant just curious. I'm trying to get a visual of a pregnant woman sitting backwards on a chair and it just makes me :giggle

Sounds like it could be entertaining to watch.

my hubby always wanted me to do the curb thing. I dont think that one really works though. I do think spicy foods help though. With my 2nd dd for the last month everytime I ate anything that was even just a lil spicy I would be up all night with contractions and when I would go to the doc I would be dialated more. so who knows. There are some wierd things people say work.

She told us that the mormon midwifes on the compound years ago had their patients go out to a curb...You walk with one leg on the higher surface and then one on the lower ground and it helps open the pelvis!

She said the chair and then lunges also...But for me those things are hard since i have bone issues...

How can you sit on a chair backwards with a big preggo belly?

Ok, now I'm officially sure that your doc is smoking crack. My doc never told me to do anything like that. My hips opened up on their own just fine.

DS was sunny side up and my midwife couldn't get him to turn so she had me go home and replace something like our computer chair with say the glider for the baby's room to help open up my pelvis..you could do that and its much more comfy..ours was padded so i just sat on the computer all day and rocked while i did it.

never heard of the chair thing or the curb thing..would you really want someone nine months pregnant walking off balance? my ass was falling down all the time! :nutts

you could try tailor sitting (sit indian style and try to get your knees on the floor).

well I thought sitting with the chair backwards worked great to take pressure off certain back muscles BUT it didn't put me in labor. The only thing that helped bring on labor was moving a lot and the up and down motion from cleaning and unpacking :)

so let me get this straight... forgive me if i have it all wrong here:

your doctor, who knows you have serious orthopedic problems and also knows that your baby is breech and you're 38 weeks preggo, has you doing HIP exercises? and your HUSBAND after knowing you just worked a long day at 38 weeks preggo and also obviously knows you have hip/orthopedic issues and that the baby isn't in the right position anyway for a vaginal birth... is encouraging you to do said exercises?

i truly feel bad for you, jenny! :hugs

Thank you Bex, yes I am out numbered here...Well I stopped doing anything around the house because I just cant. I am only working (doing nothing for the most part) to get out of the house.

I cant stand my DR!! I cant wait to have the baby. Sigh...

I kind of want a photo of you trying to sit backwards. It just sounds amusing with a large belly
