View Full Version : Teething and NOT sleeping?
Rileysmom 10-02-2007, 03:36 PM A lot of people have said that when their kid is teething, they sleep a lot, but Riley seems to be the opposite, and his sleeping is getting all messed up, even with Tylenol before bed... has this been the case for anyone else? Is maybe his sleep not related to the teething? :thinking
TIA
when z was teething, she hardly slept... lucky us, eh? :dance
Debra 10-02-2007, 06:30 PM Both of mine were the same as Riley! They did not want to sleep when they were teething, if I remember correctly! Hylands teething tablets helped with both kids!
MelissaMc424 10-02-2007, 06:34 PM Camryn was extra clingy, and teething threw her sleep off a bit.. She hated teether toys, so ice water in a bottle or sippy was her best friend..
Devinn 10-02-2007, 06:47 PM I know that alot of u may not agree with this but I assure u, it is completely safe, and was recommended to me my SEVERAL peds. I am also an RN.
If u get ur finger wet with bourbon, or whiskey, and rub ur wet finger on their gums...it numbs their gums. Basically along the same lines as using Orajel, but much more effective.

My parents did that to my siblings & I growing up! And MIL did it to DH & SIL. It's not something I wanted to use with my kids but I know it has worked for many, many families for a very long time!

It was done to me not only as an infant.. on occasion I was given a tsp. of whiskey that had a peppermint candy dissolved in it as a cough remedy.
Camryn really loved those orajel teething swabs.. I'd rub her gums and then let her chew on the swap (very closely supervised of course!)
Whaaaa!!!??? Babies actually SLEEP during that time!? :faint
:lol
As you can guess, Gabby doesn't sleep for shit during that time!
I've been dealing w/ the 4 "eye" teeth coming in this past month, so yeah, she hasn't been sleeping much :vent
I heard tho that Tylenol helps w/ the swelling but Motrin helps deal w/ the pain...so maybe try giving him Motrin?
piggypunkinetta 10-02-2007, 07:52 PM Mine never slept when they were teething either. And when they were sleeping it wasn't for a long amount of time.
Meghann 10-03-2007, 10:20 AM With Bruce, it was like he didn't even know he was teething. Maybe a handful of times did it bother him, and he loved the baby Orajel. :tu
With Hunter though, Good Lord! He had 4 cut at the same time and was MISERABLE! :sadeyes For about a week to week and a half he was up every hour or couple of hours through the night :insomnia just screaming and he hated the Orajel, but he loved anything that was really cold.
Motrin is an excellent suggestion. :yes
I hope his sleep schedule gets back to normal soon! :goodvibes
