View Full Version : San Diego Thanksgiving
Brandi 10-04-2007, 10:32 AM I thought it would be neat for us to plan a Thanksgiving for those of us who don't have family in the area and would like to get together to celebrate. I LOVE to cook a big turkey dinner but it is so hard to scale everything down to accommodate just a small family, then you're still eating leftovers for like 2 weeks :lol
Sooo.... would anyone like to get together for Thanksgiving? We could all do one dish, like usual, so it'd be less work, we can all split up the leftovers if there are any, it'd be like a big family :)
So, who's up for it? Does anyone want to host it at their house? Does anyone have the room the host it? :lol If no, then I'll host, it's not a big deal to me either way.
Maybe we could get a little list going of who is bring what dish and start getting a headcount of who thinks they can make it.
MelissaMc424 10-04-2007, 10:33 AM I'd love that, but we will be at DH's grandmas this year for T-day and Christmas. Next year I hope to be able to go home for Christmas..
Mak327 10-04-2007, 10:36 AM I would love to be involved, but I'm on the East Coast :( I think that is a really good idea though, and really true about scaling it down. Our thanksgiving is always just 4 people and yeah, we have left overs for weeks, and we split them between two houses.
That's a great idea! I think Robert's ship may be gone during thanksgiving this year so I'll definately get back to ya'll on this one! Great idea Brandi!!
You may need to rent out a hall! :teehee
We are going up north.

Well, I think a lot of people will probably not be here or will have family in town. So, I don't think there will be too tooo many, but I would like for at least a few of us to get together.
I love to turn on the parade and watch that in the late morning and early afternoon (L) and don't they usually have football on also? We can do a big turkey dinner, then get :drunk and watch football :rofl
I was thinking we could meet here or where ever at like 2ish? What time does everyone normally eat? We normally try to do our "dinner" at 2 or 2:30 but whatever works for everyone else is fine!

JKirstiH 10-04-2007, 02:45 PM WE may there...I will know more in Nov. I LOVE Thanksgiving!!! Food, Parade, Football...frineds and family...How great is that???
I love cooking too!!
Kaymara 10-08-2007, 12:01 AM I am cooking for my mom and the kiddos. (not sure if Rod will be here or not) I LOVE cooking tho so I rarely go out for Thanksgiving :lol Its a great idea tho. I always cook too much food too
*pinkie* 10-08-2007, 03:48 PM I was just thinking about what we were going to do for Thanksgiving since DH is on deployment and all the family is far away.. sounds like a good idea tho
Brandi 10-08-2007, 11:25 PM I like to cook too but it seems so easy to just have everyone do a couple dishes and split up leftovers. Who wants to do the turkey? I actually hate cooking the turkey b/c it always turns out too dry or not done enough :vent I can do a baked mac and cheese and maybe some cornbread or a greenbean casserole.
Meghann 10-09-2007, 12:42 AM I would love to be there for this dinner, it would be so much fun!! :sigh But I'm pretty sure we're going out to spend the weekend with my FIL since Justin has a long weekend and we haven't seen him in a few months.
If anything changes I'll let you know.
