While they are deployed? Normal gifts??? Ideas?

I am in the same boat...db is on our first deployment and his birthday is in December, but I am already trying to think of something to send him...if I have any ideas I will let you know!

i sent DH a new digital camera with a big memory stick, and a cool case to go with it. Plus cookies and a birthday card...


i figure that the camera benefits me too....this way i will maybe get some pics of him while he's gone

When DH deploys he's shipboard - and life gets pretty boring on a ship - so usually movies/video games. Things to pass the time when he's not working or on watch.

I am trying to figure out what to send my DH as well. Normally we don't gifts for each other but this time he'll be deployed. And his birthday is December 28th. So I want to send a birthday package as well as a holiday one. It's hard to buy something for someone when you haven't bought anything in years!

Pictures are always a hit too :yes And music.

I know when my DB is deployed I'm going to get him a digital camera with a big memory stick, and an iTunes giftcard, since he'llhave a laptop by then.

I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking of sending something small, and getting him a normal gift for when he comes home since he'll be back about a week after his bday.

DB's b-day is in Oct :( and I was planning on sending a gift but he told me he doesn't have an address to send packages. He left to Iraq a little more than a month ago. Is this possible? :( crappy, isn't?

my DB was actually in an airport headed home for his r&r. he got his gift that night...if ya knoooow what i mean. lol.

Seems like most of you have SO's with bdays approaching! Well my db's bday was in August. He's a huge football nut,..so i got him an NFL throw for his team (colts) from Things Remembered and i got his name embroidered on it. He loved loved LOVED it!! He was soooo excited to see that, he said he was so proud that i picked him something out for his team, and took the time to send it to him, especially since football season is here/approaching. He wanted to send it back home so that it wouldn't get dirty...but now he sleeps in it every night :hehe He opened his box in the office and his co-workers were even impressed with the throw lol. He didn't even know his name was on it, until some co-workers pointed it out to him. They said it was very nice and thoughtful of me.

So maybe y'all could send some football gear out to him for his team?! Perhaps some tshirts, a mini football, some football magazines, a baseball cap...get him geared up and ready for the games! It'll make him feel more at home! :)
