I'd just put a can in several ziploc baggies, and maybe inside a gladware container too to protect it. Once you open that, it needs to be refrigerated, but as long as it is still sealed it is fine.

Yeah Im gonna send more than one cake in a jar, because i know his friend will want some. So hopefully all of the icing will used up.
