View Full Version : need some opinions
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 10:18 AM I have to walk down a spiral staircase when I come into the chapel for the ceremony... the question I have for you is concerning my shoes... my mom and I have talked about me leaving my shoes at the bottom of the stairs with my dad, who will also be holding my bouqet, and having him help me put my shoes on when I reach the bottom and then hand me my bouquet to walk down the isle.... good idea or should I just wear my shoes all the way down... I'm a pretty clumsy person so that's the whole reason behind this... LOL!!!
kathy 03-22-2006, 10:20 AM are you wearing high heels? if so..then leave them at the bottom..that would not be a pretty fall:no
Chevy_Gurl 03-22-2006, 10:20 AM Are you wearing heels or flip flops (yes Ive seen girls wear flip flops :lmao)
If you're a clutz then go bear foot down the stair case
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 10:26 AM Yeah I'm wearing heels... they are comfy and not real real high, but they are heels none-the-less... my mom thinks it would be really cute for dad to put my shoes on me one last time before he gives me away! LOL I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it! LOL
Britt 03-22-2006, 10:27 AM Put them on at the bottom.
Heel + Hem = Bad Thing
IgglesmumX2 03-22-2006, 10:28 AM Awww...that would be so sweet for daddy to put on your shoes. My only concern would be hiking your dress up for him to do it.
NewBeginnings 03-22-2006, 10:29 AM I would leave them at the bottom.. I'm a HUGE clutz and I probably would fall.. Hell in my big wedding I've already told Josh I'm walking down the aisle barefoot to prevent any spills
Britt 03-22-2006, 10:29 AM I don't think it would be that hard to hike it up.
I'm thinking Cinderella, where her little foot sticks out from under her dress. :)
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 10:30 AM LOL!! Yeah that's what I was thinking too!! But I can almost just slip on my shoes so he would just have to make sure the slingback strap was up on my heel good... so it wouldn't need TOOO much hiking! LOL I wanna save that for the garter search and toss! LOL!!
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 10:31 AM Put them on at the bottom.
Heel + Hem = Bad Thing
Yes it does!!! At my bridals I stepped backwards and caught my train a little bit... we're going to have to do some stain cleaning... there is a little spot of dirt now... I almost ripped the hem a bit too! EEP
i dunno... i'm not sure if i would want to have to bend down and put my shoes on as i'm making my grand entrance
mamaoftwins+1 03-22-2006, 10:54 AM i dunno... i'm not sure if i would want to have to bend down and put my shoes on as i'm making my grand entrance
her dad would be putting them on her.
i think i would leave them at the bottom i would rather everyone see me putting my shoes on then see me falling down the stairs. or you could just say the hell with the shoes on till after the ceremony:dunno
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 10:57 AM This is very true! LOL!! I could just go with slippers or flip flops until the pics and it would make him look taller during the ceremony! LOL
yeah why dont you just wear ballet slipper type shoes. that way you know you wont fall.
i know personally me and high heel shoes dont mix. i know i would fall.
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 11:08 AM Well I have to have some sort of heel because my dress is just a bit too long for no shoes, but when I have about a 2 inch heel it doesn't need to be hemmed or anything... so it's just about perfect for a small heel... the one's I have now are 2 inches and work really well with the dress... not to mention they were $80 so I really want to wear them for the cost and they are really pretty and cute! I'm just not so sure about putting my shoes on at the bottom, but the cinderella thing would be cute!
galxy8 03-22-2006, 12:06 PM I definately like the Dad putting on your shoes for you. It sounds so cute. Wedding dresses, nervousness, and heels, no matter how high, plus stairs are not a good combination. (You may be able to walk up and down those stairs like a pro in your dress now, but on your day, I can tell you right now, that being nervous plays a major factor in the falling factor. LOL!) I almost fell walking down the aisle. (Thank goodness both my Mom and older bro were on each side of me, because I would've seriously bit it. LOL!)
Beccafries 03-22-2006, 01:48 PM Can you practice before hand? Also, will the gues be able to see you
putting on the shoes and all that? LOL

amandalaine 03-22-2006, 09:26 PM Do you have someone holding your train as you're going down?
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 09:33 PM No one will be holding my train unfortunately... I'll probably sort of hold it to the side or drag it slowly behind me... I'm thinking barefoot all the way down and then slipping the shoes on with my dad right there after he hands off my bouquet... the guests will be able to see me, but it won't be much if any foot at all. My dress is really long so I have to have the shoes... I'm thinking I can handle putting them on at the bottom of the stairs! My dad will be crying when I come down so it will give him a chance to collect himself while he puts on my shoes!! And give me a chance to catch my breath after I have held it all the way down the stairs! LOL
I cant wear heals, I trip all over myself. I think I would leave my shoes at the bottom... but wear something I could just slip on. :dunno
VinnysGirl 03-22-2006, 09:49 PM my shoes just slip on.... they are slingbacks and are pretty easy to take on and off!! I'm hoping that works for me! i'll probably practice at the rehearsal to get it right! LOL!!!
Breezy 03-22-2006, 11:25 PM I personally say wear them all the way but that is just me.
Something always happens at weddings, Hell I almost got jerked down cause my dress got caught on and electrical outlet in the floor :lmao

EEP! I'm going to inspect everything at the rehearsal to make sure it's all squared away to keep my dress from ripping off of me on my way down the isle! LOL!! Thanks for the advice ladies!! Opinions are always nice!!
Heather 03-23-2006, 12:12 PM I think you should have your dad do it at the bottom. It would so awful to fall down the stairs. You'd probley get a huge black eye or something! Your wedding sounds like its going to be beautiful. I cant wait to see the pictures.
Shaky 03-23-2006, 03:13 PM I personally if it was for my wedding I would not let my dad do the shoes thing just because in Puerto Rico they do that for the "Quinceañeros" which is kinda like the Sweet sixteen. Plus, once I'm walking down the isle I would not want to stop for anything. If they are so easy to put on that it wont take just a second then I would do it.
VinnysGirl 03-23-2006, 03:14 PM Yeah they are really easy to put on so I have no doubt that it would take maybe 10 seconds for him to hand me my bouquet and help me slip on my shoes and then I'll take his arm and walk down the isle!!
Shaky 03-23-2006, 03:27 PM Plus if it means a lot to you, why not? :)
navyaowife2005 03-23-2006, 03:35 PM I think it would be good to leave them at the bottom of the stairs and have your dad help you. I think that would be sweet.
:D
Breezy 03-23-2006, 11:40 PM Steph tape the hanger strap somehow cause that is what got caught :lmao
Dh was ready to go so he is still trying to drag me out of the church and it literally jerked me out of his arm :lmao
It is funny know but it wasn't then ;)
VinnysGirl 03-23-2006, 11:50 PM Yeah I was thinking about that... there are two in my train that are on the underside... I just KNOW something would happen if I didn't take care of them somehow!
Breezy 03-24-2006, 12:01 AM mine had 2 too but one was too high up to get caught but the other one sure wasn't :hehe
maybe you could actually tack it up just a little
VinnysGirl 03-24-2006, 12:08 AM Yeah I'm sure my mom could do that!! It's almost here!! YIPEE!!!
