:freakout evan has got the worst diaper rash! ever since we started using cloth he is fine goes to bed for 12 hours wakes up no redness except for sometimes TMI ALERT on the tip of his lil weewee which, i am not going to lie, puzzles me. but he doesn't seemed bothered by it so :dunno but we still use sposies when we go out which he is fine with. we both like cloth better but we don't mind sposies. so today he spent the whole day in them (laundry day combined with errand day) and he has been teething bad for the past three days. so bad that he has been on tylenol almost all the time. he knows what the tylenol does too, cuz when i pull it out, he grabs the dropper and puts it in his mouth and sucks on it. so on top of the fact that my son may need drug rehab by the time he is one :giggle, his whole diaper area looks like a war zone! it has never been this bad, the teething has to be contributing. he actually has little raised areas that look like he was burned!

so what i am wondering is

should there be a tooth soon cuz i can't do another night like the last ones (up at least three times for an hour each time, while before this he slept 12 hours since he was three weeks old)

is the teething contributing to the rash?

and for the CD mamas

What, if any diaper rash creams can i use on him?

And can the fact that his skin is now accustomed to CDs, the sposies are irritating to his skin because its used to something nicer? stupid question i know but it's something that just popped in my head.

the little raised areas sound more like a yeast infection than the normal diaper rash. i have always used A&D ointment for normal rashes. if it doesnt start to get better soon, make an appt.

also, i have never used cloth, so dont know about what ointment if any you cant use.

i found this online

General diaper rash is uncomfortable, but a diaper rash caused by yeast is downright painful. Almost always identifiable by sight, this rash is bright red, raw, and surrounded by red dots that can sometimes resemble pimples. Yeast diaper rash can become so severe that skin begins to crack, peel or bleed. This diaper rash may also spread to areas other than the bottom, including the genitals, thighs and the abdomen. If your child has diaper rash that, regardless of treatment, persists more than three days, yeast is most often the culprit.

thank you! i don't know if he is in pain or just not comfy but he is hating the diaper changes. it goes away when he is in the cloth for a while so i think it is just a reaction. i have no problem CDing full time to get rid of this but dh won't like doing it when we are out. :banghead

That sucks, poor little guy! I agree about it probably being yeasty cuz Elizabeth has a problem with that. For us, its just a matter of finding and switching diaper rash creams often and using cloth when they get really bad! Oh and lots of baths! Whenever she just starts to get a rash, I bathe her. That is a BIG help with it, and I make sure to bathe her every night and some mornings and change very very often. The teething could very well be causing this, but instead of tylenol constantly, I would try teething tablets. Those are natural and seem to help a LOT better IMO. And as for the creams with the cloth....I really dont know. Whenever she gets a diaper rash I just bathe her and put her in a sposie with lots of cream (whatever seems to be helping at that time lol) I tried some all natural stuff at target that claims to be ok with cloth, but it just made her rash worse, and I used it in a sposie before attempting it in the cloth just in case. Good luck with everything though and I hope he feels better soon!!!

I totally agree with Donna that the raised area sounds more yeasty than just a plain ol' rash.

Sunshine works wonders for clearing up diaper rash and yeast infections.

You want to avoid diaper creams that contain fish oils with cloth diapers. We use Burt's bees diaper cream and Corona (http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/203125/product.web?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=203125) (not the beer), and we haven't had any problems with repelling.

It could also be a sensitivity to the sposies. We used sposies with DS after he was born with no problem, but after we moved exclusively to cloth, I noticed sposies started irritating his little bum.
