So I am wondering how they work. I am VERY high risk. And I called today to get an appointment and got the run around so I am going to call again tomorrow. But if anyone can feel me in on how they do things. When do they do ultrasounds??

Techincally you are NOT high risk until you see your OB or midwife at your first appointment & they deem you so, even if you were high risk during prior pregnancies.

In my experience with my pregnancies, at most hospitals/clinics, they have you take a short class (usually a few hours long) on their procedures, etc. After you take that class, you are able to make your first apppointment. From there, your OB or midwife will schedule your first ultrasound to date the pregnancy, if they feel it is necessary.

HTH!

With my second the Dr's and I already knew it was going to be high risk. I went to my nrmal OB appt, had everything confirmed, got my EDD and then they call the high risk Dr right away from the office and I had an appt with them the next day. I was seen more often and watched closer. During my regular check-ups they did a mini-ultrasound instead of checking the heartbeat. I had 3 full ultrasounds. Hope that helps. each place is different.

I knew with my 4th I was going to be high risk. I wasnt put into my records that I was till I began having MANY problems. My gut told me that it was going to be rough.

I know for me, to get seen right away. I physically had to walk into the clinic and and make my appt. Cant ignore a person standing in front of you. Good luck.

Thanks I think that is what I am going to do is go to the womans clinic and see what I can get done. I have been high risk with both of my babies before this one. And they told me because what happened I would always be when I get preggo.

yeah, you're gonna have to be persistent. The docs don't like to categorize high risks.
