hey yall, my boyfriends 23rd birthday is nov 4th and he's in bootcamp (started oct 9th). Is there anything i'm allowed to send other than letters/cards?? Care package? I've heard you're not allowed to send food or anything since they can't have them in the dorms and what not, but are there other restrictions (except the more obvious ones)? Help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not Navy associated, but rather Army, and he's allowed to receive packages, but they have to open them in front of their DS who says what they can and cannot have, so like we can send shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, writing materials, stamps, etc, but that's pretty much it
My boyfriend had his 21st the first week of Basic, it sucked, but we're celebrating when all is said and done.

I know when I was in bootcamp we could get packages etc (navy). We had to open them in front of the company commander and if there was food/goodies (make sure you have enough to share with everyone) then sometimes if the CC wanted to allow it everyone would get some.....however you would have to eat everything right away and usually felt awful afterward. Personally I wouldn't send any food items.....most of them end up in the trash.

I'd actually go out of my way NOT to draw attention to the fact that it's his birthday ;)
I'd def send a card and some pics :)

I wouldn't draw attention to his birthday at all. i would just send a card something simple. JMO

I agree with Becca. Don't do anything that will draw extra attention to him!
