View Full Version : NON DEPLOYABLE Question.
CubLub63 10-24-2007, 09:18 PM If a soldier becomes non-deployable, what exactly does this mean?
If teeth are an issue, and a soldier becomes non-deployable even though his job IS deployable, what happens? Do they get discharged or they're just not allowed to fight? Just wondering.
Also, if a soldier is in AIT and hasn't yet found out where their first duty station is (and basically everyone else has) is this bad? Will the fact that a soldier becomes non-deployable effect where his first duty station is or effect him getting one at all?
Any information is helpful. Thanks.
leftover 10-24-2007, 09:21 PM Everybody has to be able to fight in the Army, no matter what their MOS is..
My hubs would lose his job if he became non-deployable.. But he's NG, and works FT at Camp..

Okay so basically, if you become non-deployable, this would be a bad thing and would eventually mean... being kicked out?
sgmwife1 10-24-2007, 09:25 PM Non deployable because of a dental issue could honestly simply mean he has failed to have a routine checkup and cleaning. That is something that can be squared away quickly. If he has some serious medical dental issues and that is causing him to be non deployable I would guess that he would become deployable when the issue is fixed. He will not be discharged. He just needs to have his teeth fixed. Shouldnt be a worry.
Jen629 10-24-2007, 09:29 PM My husband techinically is non deployable because he hasn't had all this wisdom teeth taken out. He was supposed to get it done in AIT but that never happened.
All that means is before his unit deploys this spring...he WILL have that taken care of. Basically being non deployable for something like that doesn't mean much..they will just make sure the issue is taken care of before he leaves.
*of course if the teeth issue is more severe maybe they have a different policy..I'm not sure.
It shouldn't affect his duty station though. My husband didn't find out his first duty station until the day before graduation (even though some people knew weeks before). It was just because he was getting stationed overseas. I wouldn't worry not everyone finds out at the same time for a variety of different reasons.

Thank you so much for clearing that up. I'll make sure he has it done right away. Kinda scared me for a second!

Thank you for your information as well! What scares me more than the dental issue is going overseas! Ha, I have a feeling that's where I'm headed. I'm a young bride and never been away from home... can you feel my nerves?!?

I have been told living overseas is a great experience. I am moving soon to be with my husband in Germany and I am definately nervous also!! I hope you guys here about his duty station soon. Having to wait for that info sucks.

It sure does suck to be in the dark! But hopefully we'll hear something soon. I just talked to DF and he's getting everything squared away. :whew

Absolutely. Have him put in a request for dental with his drill sgt. and after the checkup, you should see orders pop up in ako. :D
(This just happened to like 6 guys in DH's company, him included!)
infantrywife1991 10-28-2007, 12:08 AM don't worry bout being stationed in germany just try to stay open minded and have fun learning new things. i am german and if you want to it can be an real good experience and fun time over there.
petsparkle 10-28-2007, 01:18 AM getting stationed overseas can be such a wonderful experience, particularly if you don't have kids yet. You could get Germany, England, Japan, or a whole host of other places. Wherever you go, plan to see the sights and experience the culture. You'll have the base for creature comforts but it's a lot of fun being overseas. I'm hoping for our next tour to be somewhere in Europe.
ilovemymechanic 10-31-2007, 12:28 AM my hubby is in the army reserves and had that happen to him, his teeth made him non deployable, but when it came down to him being activated they just fixed his teeth and he is in the process of being deployed for the first time. he will be leaving in nov for our first deployment.
