View Full Version : what is wrong with AFB mail!!
Antonia 10-25-2007, 05:40 PM I just received a letter from my trainee DB and he seems pretty distraught that he hasn't received any mail from me. I don't see how this could be possible, since I started sending him letters the day after he called with his address (oct 15th). I've sent him upwards of 10 letters since then. Is the mail just super slow or is there a possibility i have his address wrong? I repeated it over the phone so he could confirm it and he said it was correct. Plus when i just called the # to get his address earlier today, the receptionist said the server was down and he couldn't look it up for me. So frustrating!!! :pout
is it possible that it could take more than 10 days for him to get mail?
rosebud* 10-25-2007, 05:43 PM any time you send mail to boot camp several things happen.. basically it gets to the city fast, but what happens once it gets to the base is kinda hazy.. I know in the Navy they have the sailors sorting mail, so you already have a big human error issue. Two if there is someone else who has even the slightest similar name that can be an issue. three they also sometimes hold on to mail for the first few weeks till the guys are situated. really don't freak I am sure he will get all of your letters and realize you have been writing him
Antonia 10-25-2007, 05:49 PM alright thanks :)
Lizieneuf 10-25-2007, 06:20 PM another thing, is have you been puting on the back of the envelope what he had to have? when i didnt put that on dhs he didnt get the letters.. give it time, and double check everything. also check the website for the address, dh gave me the wrong address because it was given to him wrong.
Mak327 10-25-2007, 06:26 PM It is possible. last friday my boyfriend got one dated from the 03 OCT It jsut all depends.
Antonia 10-25-2007, 06:54 PM i wasn't aware anything had to be put on the back...
Antonia 10-25-2007, 06:58 PM i wasn't aware it was posted online either, nor can i find anything like that on the lackland website
Waking_Hour 10-25-2007, 07:01 PM Mine always got to him within two days.
The address is should look like this
I'll just go with what you already typed.
AB (Last name, First name, Middle Initial)
(squadron #) TRS/FLT (Flight #) Dorm (#)
PSC 3
Street address Unit #
Lackland AFB, TX (zip code)
and you don't have to put anything on the back.

That is the site where you can check the address. You have to know the flight, squadron, and dorm but those should have been given to you correctly. The rest it will fix.
The first 3.5 weeks I wrote the wrong dorm number on my DB's address because that is what they gave me. Come to find out when I went to go see him he was originally in that room but the next week changed. He kept making fun of me for it. But they always got to him, so no complaints.
rosebud* 10-25-2007, 07:16 PM You might want to take his address down, to be safe. kwim

I was going to say that as well. But since she put it up I decided to just correct it. I think I will change it to X's or something. haha
Antonia 10-25-2007, 07:38 PM well according to that generator, i got the street name and unit# wrong. are the letters gone for good or is there a chance he'll just receive them really late!

Not really sure on that, I would hope they could make it too him. The generator is correct though from what I hear. That's what I used. All mine got to him fairly quickly. 2 days, but I live in Arkansas so they didn't have far to go to Texas.
Just to make sure, if you said anything important in any of them, you might want to write it again.
rosebud* 10-25-2007, 07:41 PM you will either get them returned to you if you put a return addy on them, or they will catch up with him.
Antonia 10-25-2007, 09:02 PM alright thanks a bunch =]
