i've been having such an off day. i caught myself dialing his old cell phone, and it rang.why would it be ringing? wouldnt you think it would be turned off... not only that but no longer in service? there was hope in my heart that he would answer it. it rang and rang and rang and went to his voicemail. im going friggin crazyyyyy :nutts

Well, my BF cell phone rings too, exactly four times and goes to the VM. He still has it on, it's paid by the government. But he said his is locked up wherever they keep their stuff. I like a dummy hee hee left messages on it for months, it made me feel better anyway. When he called me in August he got a chance to call in and check the VM but there were no messages. I assume that because he is in Afghan and he does not have the international plan my messages went into space somewhere. But, I felt better anyway LOL

GOOD IDEA!! I'll start leaving messages! maybe he can call the Sprint company and enter his number and code and he can listen to his voicemail! brilliant idea! I can't afford to just call and leave messages to his 011 number

It should work if he has an international number. Mine didnt and he didnt get any of my messages. I felt kind of dumb telling him I left him messages for 8 months LOL I had to try LOL. That is love for you huh? Well, its so hard not having any communication. He is confidential so I was going nuts LOL You all are so cute...hang in there! It is very tough.

I called dh's number in Kuwait 6 months after he left- it called. I called his Iraq number 2 days after he left (the first time) and it still worked- though it was turned off.

So i guess it depends.

lol well if the phones shut off b/c of no battery shouldnt it go straight to voicemail? the first week I called it it said "this number is no longer in service" and i BAWLED my eyes out 'cause it was just all too real. then it started working again?? MAybe my minds playing tricks on me? Damn i wish he actually had a recorded voicemail. I almost forgot what he sounded like until i talked to him for the first time recently... hes actually really really sick with a cold and the horrific mold in his air vents makes him sound incredibly different. that boy doesnt believe in doctors :(

Well this is getting interesting but I am glad I am not the only one. Like the one lady said "it all depends". I think so too. The whole time he has been gone the phone does ring, exactly four times and it sounds exactly the same every time. My phone and other people I know when the phone is dead or turned off it goes directly to the VM. ??? I wondered about this too. But I guess it all depends on what carrier you use. I know that it is still his number because after I said, "did you get my messages"? He said "no, I just checked and it said zero messages". I said well where is your phone? And he said "wherever they lock our stuff up at". So, obviously you would assume it would be dead. But it does ring. He also confirmed it was still on cause I asked if he suspended the account and he told me "no it's still on".

As far as you got "this number is not in order" and then the next time you called it rang, they do give the number out to someone else eventually but usually it is not right away, I would say a few months?

I make myself crazy sometimes esp. my situation where we cannot communicate. Your mind plays some big time tricks on you sometimes. It has been another two month since I have heard from him. Like I said though I am just counting on a yr deployment, like the end of January, that way if he comes home next month then I will be happy and surprised. That is the only way I can deal with it.

your mind plays the most twisted tricks on you :suicide lol i swear im going to end up in a nuthouse after all this. i hadn't heard from DF in a month and half since he got there and all i could think was omg what if he's dead or got in a accident or wont get any communication with me the whole time. his base is ridiculously strict im lucky i get to talk to him when i can

haha aww im glad im not the only one! i definitely have been leaving voicemails on his cell phone this whole deployment... even text messages! haha im a dork. i told him i was leaving them and actually at one point his mailbox got full (i dont think just from me lol) so i told him and he was able to listen to them, so i continued to leave them. he probably wont get the texts though... aw well but yeah it definitely does help me, especially to hear his voice. i miss it =(

About the music, I like to hear "Home"-Michael Buble, "Keep holding on"-Avril, and of course "Here without you"-3 doors down (My favorite-it gets me all the time). I also like "Far away"-Lighthouse. And I keep a bunch of voicemails from him on my office phone number-some of them are even from last year :P, so I listen to them every once on a while, plus I have a cd with him singing :blush - which he does very well :thumbsup
