So we have a bunch of family coming from out of state to spend sometime with Eric before he deploys, so we decided to do a little get togather/ party of our closest friends and family.
So I was wondering if we should just do food:, drinks, music and such or should I go all out, do a theme, I was thinking 80's or fiesta, too tacky or fun? I just want everyone to have a good time. What do you guys think?:confused

I'm actually going to a "going away" party tomorrow. We're just having food and drinks... hanging out, maybe playing some games (poker). A theme party would be fun too....

Cool, let me know how it goes and what you think and if you have any tips or neat ideas. I havnt even started planning yet. We just now decided on location ( our house) and who to invite.

Before you start planning, I would ask your DH what he wants & go from there! He might not feel up to a big party before he leaves. He may want it just a small, intimate gathering or nothing at all. Though a theme party sounds like fun!

we had 2. I threw one that was a surprise and then his aunts threw one. the one i threw we went all out patriotic. IT was summer, so i got floating red white and blue rafts, put them in the pool, lit tiki torches around the pool, his friend made a cake and did the icing in Camo, then I had red and white on all the tables for cloths. Everything was sprinkled with confetti. Patriotic plates, cups, etc. Cooked out on the grill (he cooked) and i had made potato salad, chips, condiments, cole slaw, etc. All out. It was fun.
