View Full Version : Sausage Calzone
RockstarMom 10-27-2007, 08:22 PM Okay, I was GOING to make the dough myself, but we had a a supper-fun time :rolleyes shopping today and I didn't have time. So this is what I did.
DEFINATELY NOT LOW FAT!!
Unless you use turkey sausage and low-fat crescents... :thinking... then it might be.
Removed about 1/2 lb of Italian sausage from the casings and broke it up while browning it.
Pulled out a can of Pillsbury Big Crescents and sealed up all the lines to make one big long sheet of crescent on a cookie sheet.
Shredded part-skim mozzarella into the middle of the crescent sheet.
Drained the sausage and put it on top of the cheese.
Sealed up the meat and cheese inside the crescent.
Grated some Romano cheese and sprinkled Italian Seasoning on top of it.
Bake 375* for 20 minutes. (I think that should be enough time for my oven)
RockstarMom 10-27-2007, 08:45 PM Okay, so it's frigging AWESOME!! :drool and I can feel my arteries clogging! :teehee

mmm....did you put the spaghetti sauce on the inside or use it as a dip?

I spread a thin layer inside but you've gotta leave enough of an edge to seal.. then cheese, then meat.. then a little more cheese to even it out.. then I folded it over and sealed it up..baked it and enjoyed the heck out of it.. :giggle
I got DD to try it by explaining that it was like "inside out pizza"..
