okay, so ive been thinking alot, and ir eally like the military, and i want to be a RN, i was thinking the Navy would be easy and good for me to start at.
My question was is, my husband is a Marine right now, and he is going to get out and then join the navy and be a Corpman (green side in the navy) now, if i wanted to join, how woudl we go about that witha child and possible deploymetss,, i know that i would have to find a babysitter, but wouldnt they work with us and help us?
would it be smarter for me to use my husbadn GI Bill and go to school and then get in...
can i even use the GI bill?

First no you wouldn't be able to use his GI Bill. Second if you are both in the service you need something called a Family Care Plan, the person should be someone you trust to watch your children while you are deployed should you and your dh be deployed at the same time. ( which in todays day and age is an ever increasing possibility)

if you want to be an RN the best thing to do is get that degree and join as an officer. as a Corpsman your not an RN and not always promised the greenside either. also since your DH is a marine there is a good chance you will both be deployed at the same time. and no promise your going to be stationed anywhere near each other either. i would do a check list of good vs bad. but also the corpsman rate is locked up from E-5 and up. so they might not let you come in as a corpsman if they can't put you in a class. then you end up undesignated and that isn't a good place to be. personally i would do reserve duty first and see if i liked it. or get my degree and go officer. good luck

I was actually having these exact same thoughts nearly a year ago. For us it wasn't worth it to risk being deployed at the same time since the only family I owuld leave my kids with are my parents and they live in Canada and I don't that would work with immigration. And joining as a corpsman was going to almost guarantee me a trip to Iraq and neither one of us wanted me there. I know there are families that do it and manage fine but I don't think it would've worked for us. So I will just finish my degree and if this war ends and I still feel like joining I still have at least 10 years to join as an officer. Good luck sweetie!

The only problem with joining the reserves, which I thought of doing too, is that there is still the possibility of her getting activated.
