My hubby is in Basic at Ft. Jackson right now, he graduates on Dec. 7th. His AIT however doesn't start until Feb. I know he has to go to Fort Lee (where his AIT is) before then, but I was wondering if anyone knew if he would get to come home in between that? I thought they did, but I wasn't sure? My hubby also told me that he thought they paid for it if he does? Does anyone know about that?
Also I heard something about Christmas, how if you are in AIT you get a 2 week break? Does anyone know if that is true or how it works?
Thanks so much!

If he has to report before, they will hold him there until AIT starts. He will get to come home for Exodus, which starts on Dec, 23 and goes to Jan 3rd.
No, they will mot pay for him to come home for exodus, he is responsible for that.
Good luck! :hugs

they wont pay for it, but they will most likely make him buy a round trip plane ticket and show it to them! i was going to go get DH, and take our time on the way back, some real one on one time, but they are requiring it, so they know you arent thinking about not coming back!
also, he probably will not get to stay home till feb, they will still make him stay on base and do pt every day and all that! DH had a week of that.

Well here is an update for you all, I just got a letter from him and even though he graduates on the 7th of December he was told that they would be staying at fort jackson until Dec 18 when they would leave for home, instead of going to AIT for 10 days.
If that is the case and they are sending them home til after Jan do you think they will pay for any of the transportation?
Thanks again :)

He's only coming home because that is Christmas exodus. EVERY military member who is in country gets it. No, they will not pay for his transport, and after exodus ends he will report back to AIT and wait.
Hope that helps!! I shoulc have clarified about christmas break. :arg

My DF told me tonight that he's got to get papers in by a certain date to ensure that he can get exodus for Christmas. He gets two weeks off, but like everyone else has said, he will have to pay for his own way home. So I don't know how different it will be for yours since he doesn't get done with Basic until Dec. I hope you get some news soon though- even though it's over a month away I know how antsy we can get!

My biggest concern right now is trying to find out how much its going to cost and how im going to afford it. But I can't wait to see him.
