I have someone named Riley's Mom accusing me of having duplicate accounts. Even though I explained that I made an account as jul418, which I promptly forgot tha password to, so created my current account.Matter of fact I never even go tot post under it. It was no more than 2 weeks ago. And then my friend who also recently joined this forum brought her laptop over while we visited and logged on to this forum. When she logged off I logged in on her computer to post and then I got 2 emails from Riley's Mom. But she is so aggressive even though I explained about the jul418 account and why another account would have my IP address even for a short time. Is there a moderator that can explain the whole IP thing to her. Our FRG does this alot we travel around to each others houses with our laptops then log in to the wireless internets. That way we wont miss our SO's on Yahoo or whatever. She basically accused me of being a liar.:shock

ETA- the reason she is probably emailing you is because multiple accounts are not allowed and it may have seemed suspicious to her to see your IP pop up under different new names. Shouldn't this have stayed in PMs?

It's kind of awkward though, when you and jinji or whoever are never logged in at the same time.

For the sake of our own protection, not to mention (I'm SURE you know, since you're so into your FRG) OPSEC, we simply cannot allow "trolls" or people who come to induce drama onto our boards. We also cannot have people on more than one account for the same reasons.

We are able to see every account that is logged in or has ever logged in under the same IP, but your type of situation is the reason why Trey verifies by asking, before assuming and banning accounts. We do realize that there are a number of factors that could lead to something looking suspicious even when it's not. So, she likes to feel out the situation, get an explanation, then go from there based on what's said.

I'm not sure. I had to head to bed last night right after this happened and the last I heard from trey she said she was still looking into it. I'm sure she will update as soon as she knows something.

She did send someone a PM last night though that was forwarded to me b/c it was not sent to a member of staff. She basically said she wanted all the accounts deleted and she's glad she didn't tell anyone about this site b/c she would have been so embarrassed but, honestly, if her friends are going to act like this, I'm glad she didn't tell anyone else also.

The last little part of her post in Tiff's thread is what initially shocked me. It was extremely rude, especially for someone who is supposedly brand new to the site. Then posting public accusations that are way off base...

It just sucks, because we tried to be nice to this newbie when she first came on, and I was kinda even excited to have another who is both Soldier and wife... but then the girl went all :screwy and is just trying to make things hella more difficult...

I'm really sorry that you are feeling that way, and I'm sure many of us would love to hear more from you.. But I understand where your coming from, when I first joined I was very hesitant, but now some people can't get me to shut up hahaha. Don't worry theres always room at the "cool table":P

its the problem with being new at a place that isnt... it takes FOREVER to fully be part of it.

thats why i spend hours here reading everything TRYING to learn who everyone is... and how they speak...

i definitely agree with that.

the key for newbies is to jump right in and realize that while some of us "seasoned" members can seem mean it's not that we are trying to be but many of us know each other in real life and have been through a ton of life's ups and downs with each other. we don't try to be mean (usually) but realize that if you (general you) as a newbie comes in and says something inflammatory our first assumption is going to be that you (again general) don't know the whole story. hell look how long i've been here and i still don't know the back story for alot of people

I don't think that anybody here wants to make any "newbie" feel unwanted. Last night was a rare thing as far as newbies go and it was brought over from somewhere else. Oh I already know that... I was brought here by two really great individuals that I adore (L) Berks and Trina... and now that I know Jenny's here, that simply adds to my bunch.

You know being called a foreigner- is offensive to me.

In MY country- that would be as rude as calling a person black and white.

Which isn't so rude in your country.

But it sure as hell is in mine.

Unlike in RL- We can't tell what WILL or WILL NOT be offensive to others. We DO come from very very different cultures, and it'd be quite impossible to expect one to understand what the other is trying to say all the time.

So unlike some- I won't turn a little offensive comment into a 3 page debate.
