I need to pick a home inspector today. I'm working with a team of 3 agents, 2 of which are mother and daughter, and they recommend their son/brother as my inspector.
I think this is a conflict of interests. While I realize the law requires him to disclose anything he finds, I think it could be tempting to gloss over serious issues in order to 'save the deal' for his mother and sister.
So, I lied (bad, bad me) and said dh had a connection up there to an inspector, so we felt obligated to use him.
Now, I don't want to pick an inspector out of the blue, so I'm wondering if any of you marvelous ladies who have purchased homes in the VB/Chesapeake/Norfolk area had an inspector who was very thorough and reliable.
Or, do you think I'm overthinking the inspector being related to the agent, and that I should just use him?
TIA!
