if he isn't at AIT for a certain amount of time they won't pay for you to move there or pay for you to move from there to his next station. You should be getting the exact same benefits you are getting now. base pay plus BAH.

since he is still at Basic sometimes things get a little messed up with the pay. however you are entitled to back pay with BAH.

If he's at bootcamp/basic I wouldn't go.

The only time I've not moved with DH was when he was slated to go somewhere for 4 months and I wasn't "eligible" to go (ie military didn't pay for it).

Hey, hun. Call DFAS.

Have his LES ready. If you can't get his LES, just explain to them exactly how much was deposited in the bank. Prepare for them to be jerks, or put you off....but keep calling until it gets fixed!!

Your DH can fill out a finance query(a five question paper) and give it to his drill Sgt. They'll send it over to finance FOR him so he doesn't miss any POI time.

Let me know if I can help you with anything!! :hugs

ETA-I moved to be with DH during AIT, and it was the smartest choice. I see him ALL THE TIME, and it was just a great move for us.

It depends how long his AIT is if they'll help you out AND it depends what his MOS is to know if he's even going to have the free time to make it worth you moving there.

How long is his ait?

i don't know about the army but i know the navy you can't move to great lakes during boot camp. well you can but you can't see them, and they have to earn the different stages of liberty so for the amount of time they are there its just not worth it. i hope you get his pay taken care of that is messed up.. good luck. i didn't move with my DH until he got to his first duty station

I'm going to address this part since I didn't before!

They will still be giving you BAH, and when you move, you just need to notify finance of the new address and you will get BAH for that region. :yes

Other than that, as long as you have your dependent ID, you can shop at the Commy and such. As far as benefits, that's it...although your medical will be easier as you'll probably be getting care on post.

I moved to be with DH during AIT and frankly, I don't understand the women who DON'T. I see him every weekend all day long and most weeknights. We have a blast and his friends are a riot, too. The guys who are down here without their wives, tend to go crazy with the partying and such since they have nothing better to do :dunno
I don't regret it a bit :D
That's a decision you'll have to make for yourself, but if he's at FLW, you'll most likely get to see him a LOT. DH did BCT there and even in basic he got four passes, so I drove down and spent the day with him each of those times.

Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes Don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything! :hugs
