The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) implemented - some visible and some not visible - to ensure the security of the traveling public and the Nation's transportation system. Starting September 26, 2006, TSA is implementing following changes to airport screening procedures:

Travelers may now carry through security checkpoints travel-size toiletries (3 ounces or less) that fit comfortably in ONE, QUART-SIZE, clear plastic, zip-top bag.
After clearing security, travelers can now bring beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area on-board aircraft.
At the checkpoint travelers will be asked to remove the zip-top bag of liquids and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

I flew with all my makeup and didn't have any problems at all. :)

I think it's more that it's harder to hide something in a ziploc and you can't have a false lining or whatever. Plus it keeps the amount of stuff down and makes it easier for the screeners.

I wouldn't put it in your pants. I'd just put it in your luggage. I forgot I had liquid in mine from a previous trip and got through ok.

i just kept all my liquids in a plastic baggie in my make-up case, and left everything else floating around in there...lol...mascara and lipgloss count as liquids, just so you know! :)

Wow, that's changed then. Last time I flew (last year) they had a whole separate screening thing for the bag. You had to hand it over to a special screener who looked at that while someone else looked at your baggage. I guess it's changed, or maybe it's different for international flights. :dunno

I had to take my ziplock out and run it through the x-ray separate, but no one went through it individually or anything.

When we flew this summer they didn't even check the plastic bags...although they yelled at you in line before you got to the security check to make sure you had your stuff in there.

We went to the makeup counter at the mall and got one of those little sample size containers and put our foundation in there. It was the perfect size because it was enough to last a week but it was also really tiny and fit nicely in the bag.

Hun, I had a nearly $70 bottle of makeup tossed in the TRASH by a screener, because it was .5 oz over. :angry So be careful!! The .oz limit applies to original containers only in some airports. That means you can't just pour out some of your makeup into a travel bottle, you have to find a trial-size bottle of makeup to bring. It's a pain! Much easier to just pack it in your luggage and not worry about it!
