What plan do you have and why do you like it? I am debating on getting Direct TV and wonder if it's worth it. We currently have an antenna and get about 15 stations.

CHOICE XTRA™ - $54.99/Monthly
Our Most Popular Entertainment Package has 185 channels, including 68 XM Satellite Radio channels. Get everything in our CHOICE package plus hard-to-find channels such as Biography, PBS Kids Sprout, E!, History International Channel and The Golf Channel. Includes locals.

It's cheaper than cable. We were paying close to $80 a month for cable when we first got Direct TV, and we were getting less channels. We've been with them for almost 5 years now. We've always gotten great customer service from them as well. Also, I like what they do for you when you move.

we have the 50 dollar plan and love it. I think it's well worth the money. You also get RFO tv which if you don't know it's horse TV. Chris Cox has a show on it, and they do alot of training shows.

We have the top plan right now. But we got the NFL Sunday ticket and the premium programming free for 4 months. I need to look and decide what level we want soon. I like it better than cable.

We have that one as well but we only watch a select few. I wish they would charge like $1 a channel & let you pick only the stations you want. I think we'd only be paying about $10 a month then! :giggle

That's the one we have as well. We did have the ultra-expanded (ie HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc) package and paid a little over $100 a month (I think) but that was only because there was a particular channel DH wanted that ONLY comes in that package. When he left I scaled back to the Choice Extra to save the $$$.
Cable isn't an option for us because of where we live (the sticks).
The ONLY bad experience I have had was this morning - apparently they have changed their customer service line since the last time I called - it is now full of automated crap you have to navigate just to TRY and find a real live person AND once I got a real live person he couldn't answer my simple question. I ended up hanging up.

I believe we have the Choice Xtra too. Plus we get the baseball package. We haven't had any problems with Direct TV at all.

ugh yeah i wind up being pissed before I get to talk with anyone.. I got a tip once from a customer service rep about the extra channels, she said that you can add them and take them off online and that Directv prorates you when you do that, so she would do that on the weekends when she was home.. and would only pay a few dollars for the movie channels..:shrug don't know if it works, I haven't tried it..

We have had Direct TV for 4 years now and we have stuck with the Choice Plus plan the entire time. We got the NFL ticket once but still could not see the games my dh wanted to see so for us it is a waste of money. Our bill is about $65 total with a DVR and a regular reciever and we have a ton of channels.

:yes it does work. My dh used to do that until I pointed out that we was doing it so much it had ended up costing more than ordering the channel :lmao I was not laughing then though.

I don't remember what the plan is but we have everything including the Sunday Ticket. So it's a pretty penny right now but it keeps us occupied.
