Kara 11-01-2007, 12:18 PM How do you get one? I am going to remember that for next year! Rachael 11-01-2007, 12:20 PM nope...but after reading what you ladies do, I plan to impliment one after the new year! rosebud* 11-01-2007, 12:20 PM not this year, have in the past.. I like Navy Fed's because it's technically not a christmas account, so you can start it one whenever you want. Ellen 11-01-2007, 12:20 PM See if your bank has the option for you to have an additional savings account that is attached to your regular savings account. Some banks have a lock on when you can withdraw the money (December Only), while others you can use the money whenever. MelissaMc424 11-01-2007, 12:21 PM I'm seriously considering opening one for next year! Ellen 11-01-2007, 12:22 PM I'll tell you, it lifts the financial stress of not having money at the holidays.....I really recommend people to start one - especially when you have kids! RockstarMom 11-01-2007, 12:23 PM Nope, can't afford to do it. When we can afford it, we will. Shep's Wife 11-01-2007, 12:24 PM Yes, we have one that gets $50 a paycheck. It saves our ass come the holiday season :yes Ellen 11-01-2007, 12:24 PM Nope, can't afford to do it. When we can afford it, we will. Think about it this way....5 dollars a payday is $120. SoldiersWife 11-01-2007, 12:25 PM I have an extra savings account that I've been putting money in the last 4 months for Christmas. I'm glad I did that because we would have been freaking out when December rolls around. RockstarMom 11-01-2007, 12:43 PM Think about it this way....5 dollars a payday is $120. ;) If I HAD that amount leftover I would do it, but Ellen, seriously- we are very poor. I put $100/mo into our savings for emergencies, but I do not count that as Christmas money. It's for emergencies. We put $100/mo into TSP- also more important to have a retirement than material possessions. Also, as I put in the other thread, there are programs for e6 and below for Christmas out here. I use those because we are so poor. Why shouldn't I? :shrug Ellen 11-01-2007, 12:49 PM ;) If I HAD that amount leftover I would do it, but Ellen, seriously- we are very poor. Just curious. There is so many programs that I just know nothing about. School me! :) RockstarMom 11-01-2007, 12:53 PM What are these programs for E6 and below? Just curious. It is the only way to go. wb3690 11-01-2007, 01:05 PM We have a savings account in which we depost 300.00 each month and during the holidays I withdraw about 1000.00 if we need it to shop, food, events etc. It's a nice thing to have. It's not a specific "christmas" account, but just a savings account.
