I am bored so here is a poll since it is prematurity awarness month. If you have a preemie or were one, how many weeks were you and what was your babies weight?

March of Dimes defintion of prematurity is before 37 completed weeks

wait for the poll

Rhyann was a preemie. She was born at 36 weeks. She was actually 34 weeks according to ultrasound, but here in Lemoore they went by my LMP instead of ultrasound. She had respiratory distress and was unable to breath on her own for 5 days. She weighed 5 lbs 8 oz 18 in at birth and came home at 5 lbs 3 oz and 18 1/2 in.

Shes now 2 months old and weighs 8 lbs 13 oz.

Mommy to a preemie baby girl :) Born at 35 weeks.

She was perfect though, no NICU required. Even though they were called in. :sadeyes
A good weighted preemie too, 6lbs even :D Shorty at 18in :teehee

Her only problem was needing an IV for antibiotics.

Problems now.... reaching milestones :(

I was just about 8 weeks early...and if I remember correctly a little over 5 pounds. I was also a blue baby. (breathing on my own but still not processing enough oxygen) I spent quite a bit of time in an incubator. Mom tells my sibs all the time they are lucky they were accidents because after me she didn't want anymore.

Edit: Mom just corrected me...I was a little over 4 pounds. I was a little over 5 when I went home.

I was a preemie, born at 36 weeks. I weighed 6 lbs even. No issues, except I needed an IV and they had to stick it in my head :( I had major respiratory issues as a child though.

Poor thing, I remember when they took Rhyann off the ventilator she was still having a hard time on her own so I can imagine what he had to do!! :sadeyes:hugs

Jaxon is technically considered a preemie b/c he came at 36 weeks. However, even though we had a few ultrasounds to confirm that his due date was correct, I think something may have been off... or maybe the steroid shots (for my premature labor) made him into the hulk or something. He was over 8 lbs when he was born and had absolutely no problems whatsoever, physically or otherwise. So, I was blessed.

My son was born 6 weeks early and weighed 4lbs 9ozs and was 17 1/2 inches long. He was tiny, but resilient. He only had to stay in the NICU for a week and he just barely 4 lbs when he came home (you know how babies lose weight first). He only had the CPAP for one day because he ripped it out after that. He was tiny, but it took 4 nurses to hold him down to get the CPAP in. He is my one and only child.

I was a preemie. 27wks and 2lbs 2oz (a perfect kilo for those that do metric), the size of my dad's hand.

And I'm gonna be 20 in 8 days. It's weird to think about, but it's been a long journey and I'm so lucky to have very few problems from it.

DB was. I think somewhere between 29 and 33 weeks and less than 5 pounds. He's now a huge guy...6 foot and 200 pounds. Gives me hope when I go to work and see all the little sick babies wondering about their future.

The poll would not let me select two options.

Nikolai was born at 36 weeks and was 6 pounds 11 ounces. He is reaching all his milestones within the normal timeframe just a little to the middle/end of the timeframes rather than before/at the beginning like Zach did.

I was also a preemie. I wasn't due until January 20th, I was born Dec. 2. I never had any major problems though, jaundice when I was born but nothing else. Oh and I was 5 pounds and I want to say 4 ounces at birth so not too small.

Madison was born at 35 weeks, 6lbs 8oz and just fine... No NICU time. She did spit up more than is normal and kind of wheeze when she breathed for a short time. That was the worst of it.

DH was born 7 weeks early(ish..my MIL can't remember exactly) and weighed 4 lbs 1 oz. He has very bad joints now and they say it is probably from prematurity. Other than that no real issues that I know of.

I was 4 1/2 weeks early. My mom went into labor with me at a concert and almost had me in the car :lol And after one day home from the hospital, I was admited to the NICU for I think 3 days she said because I would stop breathing when I was drinking my bottle and one day I never started again :sadeyes But thanks to my grandma who happened to take CPR when she started watching my cousin, I am still here! :D

Arianna was born at 35 weeks. She was fine, though, and didnt need extra care. She was 5 lbs 10 oz and only 16.5 in long! :) She was so short

My niece was born at 27 weeks. Her mom was run over by a car that went directly over her stomach. The placenta pulled away so they took the baby, then rushed her mom to surgery for the car injuries. Hadley, mu niece, was 2 lbs 2 oz. She was in the hospital for about 3 months before she came home but now she is 100% healthy 8 year old and the tallest kiddo in her class!! :giggle (and her mom still has tire tracks (indents/scars)on her belly )

Well for me the due date my mom's Drs gave her I was due Feb 20, my mom said no Feb 1 and well I was born Jan 28. Depending on who you asked depends on if they say I was a premie or not. I was healthy and had no health issues when I was born
