microtia is a condition my daughter has....it's where one ear is not formed all the way....sometimes it can be something as small as the opening is closed up....or as big as there is no ear whatsoever....my dd has an in between form....when she was first born it freaked us out alot...we had no idea what to do about it...i've been doing some research and we went to the doctors....and they can't do any type of surgery til she's older 3-6 yrs old....she's 2 now....

the doctor said she won't have any developmental problems w/ regards to her speech and i have to agree that she does seem to be progressing normally...supposedly this is a common condition but i haven't met anyone who's has this condition or has a child w/ it...do any of ya'll out there no more about it...?

dh and i also want to have another child prolly in about 2 yrs or so...but i'm worried that the next baby will have the same problem...i know it's nothing life threatening...but it still scare the hell out of me that if we concieve again the other child will have similar issues...(this condition from what i understand can possibly affect kidneys too since they form at the same time as ears...)i guess i'm just looking for some feedback and support....thanks...

Whats the probability that this will happen again? If its rare and not genetic then I wouldnt worry to much about it :)
Especially since your daughter is doing just fine.
