Do you think having a forum along the lines of this would be good?

I was thinking about creating a forum under the military section, not sure what it would be called yet or what all would be included, but I'd like it to be geared towards basically making things better for military families. The primary focus would be Ombudsman and FRG leaders (and really anyone even involved in an FRG) coming together to share ideas or ways to improve the communication or just general get togethers, meetings, etc.

I don't know if this would be high enough in demand just for Ombudsman and FRG's, but maybe we could include other things into this forum that sort of fit along the same lines.

Do you have an opinion one way or the other? If you do think this is a good idea, can you think of a title for the forum and any additional topics we should include?

I think its a good idea. I also thikn we should have a place, maybe in there, where there are lists of organizations and numbers to call for ppl who are in need. (food, assistance, rent) I know that most base offices could probably supply those. BUT it is always helpful being referred to a program by ppl who have actually used it. They can help you with specifics or give you details on if it did much to help or not :dunno

When I've been having trouble with re-integrating ourselves as a family, and DH's issues with mild PTSD, and his crazy ass behavior since coming home, I usually post in the seperation/deployment thread...

But if there was somewhere else to post about our trouble and issues coming back together as a family, I would use that forum.

Oh, that is a good idea. I think I might actually add those to our RESOURCES tab up top, so that they are easily accessed and sort of in a place where people would look when they are looking for help resources.

Can anyone maybe start a post for me and help me dig up some links of organizations that I should list?

With the war and such, I really don't think it'd be a bad idea to add a whole sub-forum somewhere for PTSD.

Maybe I could create a new section, maybe I could rename the depoloyment section to something along the lines of Deployment, Separation and Coping, then add a PTSD or even a PTSD/Re-Integration sub-forum under that? That way even people who need support with dealing with their SO's changing during deployment could seek help? Or do you think I should leave it just as PTSD? Great idea, though.

I could add a link to the EFMP contacts on our resources page, and maybe sticky something in one of the forums with information on this. Would it be best suited for Military Benefits since it falls under healthcare?

That's a good idea! The guys really change and take adjusting to get used to everythign, so I think that sharing methods for coping with both them leaving AND coming home is a great idea!

I also think the first idea is good too. I think the combined knowledge would really help make a good resource for OB and FRG leaders, as well as others.

ETA: I think EFM is a great idea too! I never realized until recently how many illnesses and diagnosis EFM emcompasses.

I think that just labeling everything clearly is key so that people utilize them. Let me know when you get them started and I can help move some posts this weekend. :)

I think those are all great ideas. I know I am always questioning where to place posts regarding my FRG things that I share or ask questions about.
