during labor did you use any pain medication? wait for the poll....

I had some other pain meds and then the epidural with both of my boys and plan the same for this one. I wouldn't do it any other way!

I was all set up for the epidural, they had the needle in and everything...then figured out the box wasn't working(there was no drip coming out). At this moment I had to start pushing because he was already starting to crown.

They didn't believe me when I kept telling them "He's coming, I need to push!"

"Oh, no...you were only at 7 about ten minutes ago.."

"Lady, it's my body and my baby and trust me, he's coming NOW!"

He was born within ten minutes, and I never DID get any drugs! FUN! :lol

Ohh you poor thing!

my first was all natural i went from 4 to complete in an hr and 1/2. They check said to walk around then come back when i came back they said oh crap 10 people rushed in the room and while i was pushin they were putting in the iv. after it was all over my dh told the attendin dr to get out of the room before he threw him out. (something was said along the lines of oh lets put an extra stich there the dh will like that all this was after they numbed it then sat there so long decidin what they were going to do that i felt EVERYTHING it was worse than pushin) poor dh had marks on his chin from my fingers cause i grabed his chin and said i feel every damn thing they are doing:biting

2nd after 6 hrs and pitocin they gave me alittle something in the iv. I set the monitors off a few times i guess frommy bp goin so low. dh didnt tell me till a few weeks later what all had happened:worried

i had an epi. But not till 7cm...good thing too. I had tohave an emerg C at 8 cm!! I was fine but something told me to do it!!

I haven't given birth yet but am planning to do it natural..I am going to avoid using the Epi unless I have to

I had an epi for 10 min. they didn't realize DD was on her way out when they gave it to me. As soon as I got it, I started pushing!

I got the epi but it didn't work.

got the epi at 6cm and they turned it off when i pushed so i'd feel it when i had contractions. I wouldn't do it any other way :)

I had nubain which was awesome..and then later on I got an epi...

All natural, it was awesome.

#1-IV meds but, they didn't help the pain at all, I blame the pitocin

#2-Epideral, it was great in the begining, but by the time I had to push it had worn off. I had pitocin too so that just made is hurt even more.

#3-Epideral, lasted the whole time and made the delivery so much easier. I also did not have any pitocin and I think that played a big role in everything being less painful.

Natural.. It really wasn't that bad for me. It never really hurt until I started pushing.

1st one i had an epidural, 2nd one they gave me an epidural but it wore off before he was born, and 3rd well she came to fast we barely made it to the hospital so she was natural

For my son, it was completely natural. For my daughter, I had a little bit of pain medicine in my IV. Didn't help much, though.

#2 - had the most useless epidural ever, pain relief lasted about 10 minutes, then it starting coming back, only my left knee stayed numb. Was completely un-numb(except knee) at about 8cm, nurse paged anesthesiologist but he never came. Oh yeah, and ds was 9lbs, stupid doc refused to give me an episiotomy even tho I crowned the baby FIVE TIMES! DS didn't come out until I tore. Freakin' Ouch!

If I can talk dh in to another baby, I will chain the anesthesiologist to my side until I'm sure the epi is a keeper.

OUCH...!!!

I got an epidural - it totally wore off right before I had to push.

I tried to go all natural and that went right out the window once the pain got intense. The epi was my favorite and I'm glad I got over my fears and got it.

My hubby wanted me to go all natural. I was pretty sure I was going to go with an epi. HEHE When I was in labor he was willing for me to have whatever I wanted. I had both pain meds and an epi. I'm so glad I did 23 hours later. He was such a wimp he wouldn't let my mom leave the room! God love him though.

I was gonna try to go natural but after how bad it hurt just from the DR checking me thursday I want the epi. I swear that man was in there up to his freaking elbows

I had C's with both so naturally I had something :giggle

Epi with both and with my dd they gave me morphine along with the epi

They put some nubain in my IV so I could sleep, and then I had to have a c-section after all, so I got a spinal. This time around, just getting the spinal, since I can't VBAC.

Too far gone for an epi when they FINALLY got there with the stuff, so they gave me an intrathecal and DD was born within half an hour after that.
