Breaking news out of south Fresno. Highway 99 at Clovis avenue has been shut down after a massive car pile up Saturday morning.
The CHP said at least 100 cars are involved. Two people were killed and 40 others injured. Among the fatalities are a six-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man.
Northbound highway 99 from Clovis avenue to American has been shut down. The CHP is diverting traffic. The highway is expected to be closed until at least 11 pm Saturday.
Authorities said early morning fog may have been a factor in the pile up.

Ohh wow! That is alot of cars. It is said to say wrecks happen way too often on 99 between Visalia & Fresno. People drive really crazy on that stretch of road.

wow that really sucks, especially losing people to that. People need to be more cautious if its foggy or if they know its going to be.

Foggy season is back!
YEP! BTDT about a million times while we lived there - had to drive my 45 minute commut each way in that dreaded fog! It was one of the most miserable experiences ever, I almost quit my job over it! :nutts
That's terrible about the 2 people who died from these accidents!

:yes & it is the worst in that area-When we lived in Lemoore, Man it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO foggy once Nov came around:yes

That is about the only thing I don't miss about up there. I lived in the central valley for 13 years growing up and I hated when the fog came in.

When I used to haul produce, I dreaded that area during this time of year. I could go as slow as molasses but an 80K vehicle is hard to stop at any speed. I saw some really crazy accidents out there, but nothing with 100 cars in it, I feel bad for those families.
