Okay ladies, I had originally said I would do a jewelry party/pot luck, but I've really not had much interest from people.

So here's the question, and April, please don't take offense at this.

Would you ladies prefer just a potluck? Or maybe a potluck/baby shower for Dani?

Please be honest because if there isn't the interest for the jewelry party, I'd rather let April know now so I'm not holding the date from someone else. The reason I thought about doing a party in the first place is I want to get to meet you ladies!!

So please either post or PM me if you'd rather which you would prefer - jewelry party/potluck, potluck, or potluck/baby shower.

If you guys aren't interested in any of it, that's fine too! Just let me know and I'll stop planning.

I am helping Lissa (Petsparkle) to plan... her play room would be an asset for the kiddos and my house is tiny! I will still plan on a BBQ in the summer with horse rides etc. So gathering in Oak Harbor on the 17th... who else is in and what is your input!?

Hey, I forgot to mention, the 17th is a Saturday so all you ladies who work this should be okay for you! And your kiddos are more than welcome!

I'm pretty north on Whidbey Island, so if you don't want to take the ferry, it's about as quick to just take I-5 to Burlington, then come back down island. But it's up to you. I always find I mis-time the ferry :)

yeah, i looked it up. it's ~100 miles all driving & ~70 miles taking the ferry.

i am an absolute car ferry virgin still. this is my chance to lose it & i'm gonna take it! ha ha. yeah, i know i've been here since july...buuuuuuuut, i just haven't ferried yet. db really doesn't wanna be on another boat, cept a fishing boat, for a long while.

is this a girls & kiddos only thing?

I don't have a problem with your DH coming if no-one else does? I don't really mind either way.

On the driving vs. ferry, it is definitely shorter in distance to take the ferry, but in actual travel time, unless you hit the ferry at just the right time, it's actually quicker to drive around. BUT, having said that, if you don't mind it taking just a little longer, the ferry is quite fun. I don't take it when I'm under time pressure, but when I'm not it's more fun that the freeway! Plus the drive up the island is prettier. Dani will know better because she lives nearer there, but I think it's about 40-50 minutes to Oak Harbor from the ferry. But if you get stuck behind someone sight-seeing, there's not many passing places.

So just allow extra time, but it is fun to ferry!

he he, i wish he were dh. he's db. he's got some weekends off...i told him i was planning on going to whidbey, so maybe he'll come with.

i'm in no rush...i need to get out & see stuff. i've been waiting on db to show me around, but can't wait forever.

i did check the ferry times & it is every half hour, so that doesn't seem too bad.

Hey Joy! I'm pretty close to you! I'm just off Regatta by the cemetary.

Navy_Vet_Wife03 - Your husband is welcome! My husband is deployed right now, so I know what it's like. He'll have to understand that he'll be one of maybe, two or three guys amongst a ton of women and kids!

Are you in the neighborhood next to the cemetary? Those are nice homes if you are. I was up that way picking up a childrens desk for my girls off freecycle :giggle I'll swing by since ya'll are around the corner. I don't know how long I'll stay though, :teehee

Yes I am, second house on the right.

We were lucky that we bought it when we were stationed here 5 years ago. BAH STILL doesn't cover the mortgage though! LOL. They really need to increase the BAH here.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid what they give us compared to the ACTUAL cost of housing out here. :rolleyes

Oh, cool cool with the ride. Thanks dear!

Ferries are definitely fun, I used to take them out to Vancouver Island a lot!
