At what age did you start potty training? Did your child give you signs that they were ready to begin? I know my DD isn't ready yet but I'm just thinking about the steps ahead.

I JUST took her panties off cause she pooped in 'em. :irked girl20racer 11-04-2007, 02:47 PM At about 2 I introduced to her, however she's almost 2 and a half, and we're still working at it at home, at daycare she's completely trained. I did not force her at all, she let me know on her own when she was fully ready. Trust me, I just suggest giving her time. DD did that as well.. She's about the same age as yours.. May 05 baby? She did that for a long while, but eventually she will know ahead of time. Try doing a sticker thing on the wall in the bathroom or make her a "prize box" for when she makes it on time she gets to pick something out of it :) MelissaMc424 11-04-2007, 03:02 PM My DD is 3 and we're just now getting fully daytime trained. Your DD will start giving you cues, like being curious about the bathroom, and wanting to be changed as soon as she goes in her diaper.. My DD could possibly have been completely trained sooner, but we put it off due to PCSing. We started as soon as we got settled in here and she's done wonderfully. When you do start, sticker charts are wonderful. I loved the ones from www.kidskandoo.com ... DD hated the potty chair and wanted her own little adaptor type seat for the big toilet. We have one for each toilet, and a folding one for travel. Pullups didn't work for us because she treated them just like diapers. In order for her to get serious, we had to take away all daytime pullups and keep her in big girl panties. (That's a big incentive.. if you let her pick out panties she'll want to keep them dry!) BLBnJVB3 11-04-2007, 03:11 PM Breanna was 2 when we started. It took us a good while to get her potty trained so it was right around her 3rd birthday before she was. She showed signs in that she hated to be in a dirty diaper, would tell us she had to go or would get the potty out herself and sit. Johnn is 25 months and we started. He will take his pull-up, diaper, or underwwear off if he can get to it. If I put a onesie on him he leaves it alone. To me that is a sign he is getting ready. He really doesn't show any other sign. He doesn't tell us he has to go or go get the potty. It has been very slow going. I'm thinking he'll be like Breanna and be close to 3 before he is potty trained. Kat 11-04-2007, 03:14 PM We started at 18 months. Took him no time to pick it up. I cant stand to change a diaper of a kid who is old enough to know what a toilet is :lmao So we start them young. She went through phases... she just turned 2 and she's just now starting to really get a grasp on things. flafwife 11-04-2007, 03:31 PM my oldest was done by the time she turned 2 but my youngest is going on 26 months and is really picky about when she wants to go. for 1 week i couldnt keep a diaper on her at all shed take clothes off just to take it off, then she just didnt care, i tried the pullups and she acted like she was one again she would go in them but not make any move to want them off. :sigh they say every kid is different.:hehe girl20racer 11-04-2007, 10:31 PM :yes May 05 baby. How long did it take him to pick it up completely? I'm starting her now and she's 19 months. sandykay 11-05-2007, 07:34 AM DS is 4 1/2 we got him out of night diapers about 6 mths ago, and he's been day trained since about 2 1/2, but he still sometimes has an accident. Pooping during the day was the hardest. If he's playing and doesn't want to stop to go to the toilet, he'll do it in his pants, but peeing, he'll just go around the side of the house. |
