If you know of any resources that would come in handy for a child who is coping with deployment (or for a mother/father of a child who is caring for the child during deployment), please feel free to add them here and I'll make a sticky within this forum.

Books, videos/dvds, sites, articles, or anything else you think would be of help.

Operation Story

www.operationstory.org or www.myspace.com/operationstory

They have a new program called "I remember" to create hardbound books containing pictures, letters, or just about anything else of the deployed parent to give to a child. These books are 5x5 in size, so they are perfect for the child to carry around and love.

They also help the families of the deployed create books to be sent so that the service member may carry pictures of his or her family with them.

Operation Story will do one book per family at no charge.

You can contact Operation Story through their websites or at operationstory@yahoo.com

What is Fleet & Family Service Center?
In the Navy they have an organization call Fleet and Family Service FFS for short. It has a ton of info and classes that they host for all kinds of things. Like how to do a resume ( for example) to New Parent support groups. I am not sure what other services have.
