I'm 2 months and one week into this 15 month deployment. By the time he goes back from R & R we will be 3 months in with 12 left for the deployment. That's ONE year without my baby. It's a heart breaking thought :(

We'll be alright though girls. I know we will. :yes :grouphug

Its been 5 weeks. Time is going by fast for me because I have so much to keep me busy. It doesn't feel that long to me. I'm guessing it will a few more weeks down the road.

and please excuse my ignorance, but what is r&r?

11-06-2007, 09:18 PM
It's been one month and a week and change. He's got a 12 month deployment. It's only been a little more then a month and I already sleep with my phone.... I try to keep every day busy so I don't sit and count the hours... It's been a hard adjustment for me. This is his second but our first deployment so it's been a long month so far... :sadeyes But I agree with Cocoa_Cutie_Pie we'll all get through this together.

I'm wrapping up my first week :tears

R&R is the leave they get to come home for two weeks-also known as mid-tour leave. It can happen at any time after the fist few months of deployment until a month or two until they come home.

Amanda011784
11-06-2007, 09:55 PM
It sucks really bad the first two weeks.
I know we can all make it.
I'm scared to start counting down for R&R because it is such a long time from now.
but after his R&R it will only be about five months left.
plus we will be married in september!!!

I am almost 2 months in now...luckily for me DB is on a 4 month deployment...approx 120 days. So I am ALMOST half way done...I give you ladies doing the 6-15 month deployments a SHITLOAD of credit...I can NOT even begin to IMAGINE! BUT, you will ALL come out of this with a strong, solid, relationship that will continue to show you that you have the best relationship ever! I respect you all and I will continue to be here for all of you no matter what! Thank you for the sacrifices you make, and the sacrifices your SO makes for me, and our country! You ladies ROCK and so do the men you love! :grouphug

I'm thankful for a lot this year. I must say that finding everyone here is in my top ten. I found this site when I just needed someone to understand what I was going through. One of you nice gals were talking about the website that helps men and women see their family while they are over seas. Well I got interested and asked for more info. Well thank you so much, you know who you are for hooking me up with the phone number. Now my dh is going to get to see Norah's first birthday party! He has been so depressed becasue he was going to miss it. But now he is going to see her dive into her first cake. I'm getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it. But I'm so happy at the same time. We haven't seen his face since Aug. So I can hardly wait! Thanks a bunch for all of the support I've gotten here. I hope I can help somebody as much as I've been helped!:hugs

Hubby left in May for training....was only home 5 weekends....shipped out on Oct 7th.....The leaves will be turning color again before he comes home....:sigh

:pray He'll be on R&R around Easter time.........

This one's been tough because he's Navy w/boots on the ground....I prefer the ship deployments (shorter, no guns involved) but he says this one is "easier" (for a lack of a better word) because we use the webcam each night!

Im a little over 7 months into this 15 month deployment. Its gotten some what easier I guess, but at times it gets really hard especially around the holidays. And deff now that I am pregnant with our first child too. I break up the months by counting down to something I have to look forward to, like Christmas, and my niece being born. It helps to make time seem not so slow. Just staying busy with work and family and friends and being on here helps too.

i am almost 7 months into this deployment too, i am not pregnant, but im dreading the holidays. My man was hear last christmas, and i wish i had him here this christmas. But the only thing i have to look forward to is seing my sister, niece, and nephew. It does make it easier to have things to look forward to, but its still really hard. Hope you have a good holiday season.

Hi, I'm new here, but my husband just left on Tuesday for a year long deployment to Kuwait/Qatar. This is our first deployment together (he went to Iraq and Korea before we were together) and I am going nuts. None of my friends really understand, and I am sad and lonely and missing him so much. I have only heard from him once in the past four days and I feel like I am losing my mind.:confuzzle

I tried another spouse support website, but the ladies there didn't seem as active as you do, and I read a few of the threads and I feel like I have more in common with a lot of you.

I know I need to stay busy, but I broke my ankle in Oct. and it is still healing and I can't really get out much. I am going nutso! Help. I miss my hubby.

Sorry I never saw this before! He's on a WestPac. Just recently left Singapore & now off to who knows where!

R&R (rest & rehabilitation or recuperation) is leave some branches receive. usually it is about 18 days total (give or take). The shipboard Navy does not receive R & R since they are generally on deployments under a year long.

I am not the first few months in, but I am on the downslope of a 15 month deployment. The first few months were by far the worst. We had R&R and I got into a bit of a slump after that, but picked myself back up and am rolling on now. It gets better! Just hang in there, when you get to the end you will wonder where all of the time went. I know it sucks, but you can do it! Big hugs!

Dh has been gone almost 2 months, but we got way lucky and he PCSed to a brigade that's been over there since last April already, so he only had to go for the tail end of it (the last 4 or 5 months). We're almost halfway. I can't even imagine him being gone for 15 months, this is bad enough! Props to you all!

DB left almost 2 weeks ago.
Time is going by so slowly, but when I think about it, kind of quickly almost because I've been trying to stay busy.
This is going to be the longest 15 months of my life. :(

DHs' hasn't been gone for a full week yet, he is still state side, but not sure how long in months his deployment is. I try not to think about the days and what not....especially now...higher numbers only depress me since he's been gone =[

dh has been deployed for 2 1/2 weeks. this is our first deployment and quite the learning experience. i have been staying busy with the kids, and i am very lucky to hear from him every night around the same time. i live for those 15 minutes a night!! only 11 months to go!

I'm about a month and a half into our second deployment. It was rough the first few weeks, but getting a little better now. This deployment seems tougher for some reason. I just try to focus on one day at a time and I'm grateful for every phone call and email no matter how short they may be. :)
