Greggo and i were talking last night, and i was telling him about my research for my "structured controversy" paper on same-sex marriage. so that got us talking about the whole gay thing, and man, he had a negative attitude! now, what i mean by that is, i was saying that i am friends with many glbt people, and that's just how it is. i'm sure it has something to do with the area i live in. anyhow, he was saying he'd never be friends with "those people," though for my sake he's be polite.
:thinkin
Here's my question: he told me in the UCMJ that it says US Military personnel can have NO association with open glbt persons. if you do, you can go to jail or get a dishonorary discharge.

an example he gave was hypothetically we're married, and i have a glbt friend over for dinner. we both get charged and go to jail. :wow

I'm reading through the USMJ, can anyone verify this? i can't find that. I'm just curious :shrug

I will ask my DH BUT I am pretty sure he has that wrong I was never told that while I was in the service and my DH is an MA so I will call him up tonight and ask him when it is morning his time. I am pretty sure you just can not engage in homosexual sex acts, or sodomy, or disclose that you are GLBT to anyone. I mean GLBT are not even given a dishonorable discharge so I don't see how being FRIENDS with a GLBT person can send you to jail. ESP you the dependant. I think he just doesn't want to have any thing to do with GLBT people and made up some hair brained excuse.

OH yeah also YOU the dependant can not be held accountable with the UCMJ just the civilian courts, now your spouse CAN get in trouble for your actions such as if you shop lift from the exchange HE can get in trouble for it as well as you.

whispers very softly UCMJ :) I am pretty sure he is full of it, I mean we have been friends with couples that are G & L. My DH is a master at arms he has the UCMJ memorized he would not do that if he would get in trouble for it.

Now that is one of the funniest (yet saddest) things I have heard in a while. I asked DH and he said he's never heard of that either and that he is 100% certain that it is not true.

I'm with the other ladies. I never saw it in the UCMJ. And that is good, cause I would be in trouble.:D
