I've gotten lots of good ideas for care packages from this site and other places but unfortunately most of them cost MONEY which i don't have a lot of, being a poor college student and all, haha. anyone have any good care package ideas that are cheap? thanks!

Check out the dollar stores for things he might need (they sell everything) If you're doing a holiday package they're a great place to find stuff..

Dollar stores are amazing. I sent DB a birthday box full of dollar store stuff.. most of it was just fun stuff to make him smile, but I also found a new formula of vasaline for his hands, socks (which I did not get, but they had them there) mini games, "boy toys" like GI Joes :giggle

And a cheap dream catcher kit... with the promise that we would get/make him a real one when he got home... he's really into Native American stuff, and I am Cherokee.

Also, if you have a vacuum sealer, or can get a good deal on one... (I am looking now for one)... you can make him goodies and send those. I also include pics of things I am doing (not had too many new ones lately, I'm sure he is bummed lol) and I sent a hand written note.

dollar store and flat rate boxes are your best friends. check out the clearance sales or discount stores.. when something he likes goes on sale buy as much as you can so you can ration it out to him.

also there are plenty of non cost things you can do, such as make your own kinda of photo album for him.. find things around town that are free. leaves from trees, some grass. stuff like that. pictures of where you go sorta your daily life.

Ziploc actually is making a small hand held one that's supposed to be great, and very affordable! I'm considering one myself.

plastic ware like glad ware and stuff keeps things fresh too.. plus he can toss it once it's empty.

I've got a shit load of gladware... does it really keep stuff fresh for that long? Last thing he wants is stale cookies :giggle

With DH he always just asked for oreos, so I sent them and a ziploc bag to keep them in once he opened the package.

I'm not sure how long they'd stay super fresh.. but Gladware is pretty good.

I usually hit up the target and walmart dollar bins..I always check the toy aisle's for cheap toys to send him as well. I got a bunch of small gifts for a dollar a piece at target recently. I also get him dvd's at the bins at walmart.

I agree with all the ladies here... dollar stores and clearance isles. I have been searching through photo albums and sending him pics of us. Plus, we did crossword puzzles together on our first vacation together so I sent him 1/2 done puzzles so he could finish them. The Dollar Store is fun for items that'll make him smile like whoopee cushions and slinkys. Make him a word search on your computer to hunt for words like love, military, hearts, I don't know. DB's celebrity crush is Jessica Biel. I found an old Cosmo with her on the cover and an interview inside. I am sending that to him. I <3 Flat Rate Boxes. Hmmm... trying to think of other cheap ideas...

DB looooooooooves it when I send him funny articles from cosmo...and even those raunchy ones about "101 ways to please your boyfriend" hahahah stuff like that or just random articles I think he might want to read or should read...he used to save things for me when he was home... I also bought this packet of "coupons" and a book that has a bunch of "would you rather" questions...i just rip out a couple of those and add them in with letters or packages...I also take pictures when I go out with his friends and just when I do random things that he would want to be there for and mail them on cds.

sunflower seeds are always good!

Honestly, he's going to like anything you send him, because it's from you, and it means you were thinking and caring about him. On the practical side, those boxes aren't too big so you shouldn't have to buy too much.

ooh... cut out articles of his favorite sports team and send them to him. You could just send one every time you mail a letter.
