View Full Version : He called!!
ArmyWifewith3 11-09-2007, 05:37 PM Actually, my darling is only at Reception Battalion right now. It even got extended an extra week so he'll be gone longer. However, he called yesterday and it broke my heart. Beats me why. Maybe because it was the first time he'd called since he left?
I just got off the phone with him now. He had to call THREE times because we kept getting cut off. He's only in OK for crying out loud! Beats me why it kept cutting us off. However, this time it was so wonderful to hear his voice and I feel so much better for hearing him. He says that he's doing just fine. My guess is that he's just bored. :)
I was just happy to hear from him this time. He even told me that his recruiter should be able to get me an address to start sending letters to him for them to be waiting when he finally gets out of RB and officially into BCT. I'll have to contact him and see if he really can.
The calls have all be really short so far. Never going over 3 minutes. At least I managed to get a little information to and from him this time. :)
Mosley04 11-09-2007, 09:04 PM :woohoo on the phone call. i always cry after i talk to my dh too. he is almost done though-he graduates next thursday!!! i have only got to talk to him like twice though. but they are nice when i get them. about the letters my dh recruiter said he didnt know anything about it. the commander from ft. benning is the one who sent me the letter with his address on it. so you will probaly get one of those.but it might be different depending on where he is at? i hope you get many more calls!
usmc_wifey85 11-09-2007, 09:05 PM YAY!!! Im glad you got to talk to your guy :wub
ArmyWifewith3 11-09-2007, 09:59 PM he is almost done though-he graduates next thursday!!!
Congrats on the upcoming graduation!! Are you going to get to attend? I've already decided not to go to DH's. Isn't that terrible? However, we do have several small children and he's almost 11 hours away by car. Flying all of us is out of the question. Also, we get to cheat... Christmas Exodus is right in the middle there. Maybe 3 weeks or so before he graduates. So, as long as he isn't told to stay or something odd like that, we'll see him then. I'm absolutely flying him home! That's my Christmas present. :D
Besides, I've already decided to join him for his AIT. He'll be near my parents and my grandmother so it makes perfect sense for me to add an extra move in there. :) Might as well start getting used to it now! Oddly enough, I'm looking forward to it.

yes- i am going with his parents. i am taking my 4 year old but not my 4 month old. he is only about 2 1/2 hours away by car-so its not too bad. after he graduates he will be going to ft. jackson. ugh-that is like 7 hours away so i know i wont get to see him any. he will be there for 14 weeks. but yeah, he is my christmas present too. i am so excited, but kinda sad. i know i get to see him in like 4 days, but i know that once i see him i will have to come back home without him. so, you are going to stay with your parents while he is in ait? that sounds like a good idea!
mrskmw 11-09-2007, 10:25 PM Glad you got a call :)

Well, they're actually 3 hours away from where DH will be stationed. In my little world, that's still too far away. I just want to be as close as possible to him. I'll admit that I'm hoping he'll get some weekends here and there. Being right there will make it easier to see him.

yeah, 3 hours is better than nothing. i am not sure but i think after so long if they are good or whatever they do get some weekend passes, but it can change at any time. plus i have been told they wait till the last minute to tell you so i wont be able to just pick up and go 7 hours if they decide to let my dh have a pass. so, i am going to enjoy Christmas, and then we wil make up for our anniversary, birthday, and all that other stuff when he gets back in april.

We will have a lot of stuff to make up for when we get together with him again. He'll be here for one birthday as one of our kids was born the day after Christmas. However, we have 2 boys born in February, 1 in March, we'll miss our 6th wedding anniversary, and his birthday as well. We'll have a lot of celebrating to do. :) There's the possibility he could miss my birthday as well if the Army changes his MOS, which they've discussed the possibility of doing. If they do, then his AIT will stretch longer. OH, the joys of the uncertainty of the Army! :lol
I'll also admit that I've been wanting to leave Colorado for years now. This is the perfect time, and the perfect excuse, to 'escape.' :D I can't wait! I told DH that if he gets sent back to Ft. Carson anytime in the near future, I was going to be upset. :vent
StellaBella 11-10-2007, 11:41 AM I was thinking about moving to be with my DB for AIT too. I am totally new at this...how long is AIT...and do you think it would be worth it to move near him? would i get to see him that much?

The time your DB is in AIT is completely dependent on what he's training to be. My DH is currently scheduled to be in AIT for 17 weeks. Rumor has it that he could possibly transfer to a permanent duty station (PDS?) to finish up his training. Beats me what's going on with him. Everything I've read about his MOS has that AIT lasting 23+ weeks so I don't know why he's only scheduled for 17.
You have to understand my "weird little world" to know why I think it's worth it to move. I will be paying for this out of my pocket. The Army is not moving us in any way shape or form. I will not be living on base. They usually (from what I've read) only "let them off base" on weekends and usually after the 11th week. Keep in mind this is just off of what I've read and have had no confirmation yes or no. That pass can be pulled for any reason, of course.
However, I've lived in Colorado ALL of my life! Well, except for 2 years in Montana when I was too young to remember. I don't think that counts. :) I have been wanting to leave Colorado for about 8 years now. My parents are near where DH is to be sent for AIT as is my grandmother. She's my last surviving grandparent. I'm just ready for this change. Also, even if I only get to see him once or twice before AIT is over, that makes the move more than worth it in my mind. He's the absolute love of my life and just the thought of being just "over the fence" from him makes me happier. :) Told you I have an odd little world. :D
I'm just ready for this and ready to follow him wherever he goes and the Army will let me tag along. Heck. I've lived for 6 years in a city I swore I'd never live in because of him. :lol He's worth it. We're in the Army now because it has always been his dream to serve his country. I just sucked it up and supported him. I'm proud of him. :sweetheart
TallBlondie82 11-10-2007, 06:54 PM thats great congrats!!!!
ArmyWifewith3 11-10-2007, 07:39 PM Oh, wow... I'm SO spoiled! He called again today and even had a whopping 10 minutes to talk. Even the boys got to talk to him today. They were thrilled. :) Then, when we got back from his parents' house (yeah, I get along with my in-laws), there was a letter waiting from him!! :cp
I got to hear some really funny stories. One was "raking" the yard to pick up the leaves without rakes. :lol They handed everyone a plastic bag and told them to pick them up!
I know I can't expect this to continue. But I sure am going to enjoy it as long as I can! Strangely enough, the silly guy is loving this. He's a funny guy.

OH my gosh! He is absolutely psyched over the weapons training. Anytime he mentioned it, he'd get this look on his face. It reminds me of the look my kids get when we say we're going to Toys R Us and we'll buy them a toy. We even had 4 guns in our house at one point. However, I made him remove all of them when he left. I don't know how to use them so there was no point in keeping one around with 3 boys who love getting into things. I have his ASP and I figured that was good enough. :)
I know the move will be short and sweet. We'll get picked up and shuffled off again. However, I've already moved something like 26 times in my life. Needless to say, I'm used to it and we weren't even a military family. As a matter of fact, I'm supposed to be preparing our house to move. I umm... Haven't done much. ;) My mom is the moving queen and she's coming the last 2 weeks or so that we're here. She'll get my behind in gear.
MamaMia 11-11-2007, 02:22 AM Congrats on the calls!
