So my DH is sick at Basic, I just talked to him and I couldn't understand anything he said, he sounds like he is talking out of his nose. The boy hasn't been sick in like 3 years so go figure he gets sick at Basic.

my hubby was sick the whole time he was at navy boot. he had bronchitis, the flu (twice), strep (twice) and just icky the whole time. they'll keep him on medicine and he'll be tired but it's just a short stretch. how long has he been there?

He's been there since September 25th, and he graduates Dec. 7th. I'm not worried, he normally fights of sickness pretty well. I'm just suprised, he never gets sick I've known him since I was 15 and I have seen him sick twice, I'm sick all the time and he never catches it from me, so i'm just suprised

when you get a big group of people living in close quarters, and they are sleep deprived and their immune system is weakened it happens. i hope he feels better

yeah, my dh never gets sick either, but he is in basic, and i got a call the other day . he is sick too. they have him on steroids, antibiotics, and some robitussin he said. he also got into some poisin ivy. he is highly allergic to that stuff so they had to put him on more steroids. he is in his recovery week(the last week)so at least he is not having to do that much!

Yeah when I talked to my DB the first time he called, his voice was all scratchy and he was sniffling quite a bit. Seems like they all get sick!

Put a whole bunch of people in one building with a new setting and the exhaustion of the first few weeks of Basic, and they're going to get sick. Unfortunately, that's all part of the experience. Send him some cough drops (not only will it feel better, but it will be the only
"sweet" thing he gets to eat). Other than that, there's not much he can do.

His voice might also be horse just from the exhaustion and yelling if he isn't used to it.

:rofl They always let DH call cadence the last week because he was "so enthusiastic". He could barely speak to say his name at graduation!:lol

It is bound to happen...but it's a good thing, in preparation for AIT. After fighting this illness, his immune system will be on guard for more close living quarters situations :yes

Hey my boyfriend just called me from basic and he is sick too! He has tonsillitis, it was so scary when he called me from the hospital. He's down in Fort Jackson. Where's your soldier at?

It actually common. A lot of different people coming together and living in tight quarters. there's even a name I've heard for it but can't remember. My dh got really sick in bootcamp and that was almost 20 years ago. Happens a lot!

Yeah, my DB's like that... Never gets sick, and sure did in Basic. Oy, poor dear. He didn't do so well with the shots though, so he blames that. :rolleyes Hasn't really been sick since though, so he must've got it out of his system. :D
