Okay, so I don't exactly know whether or not this is True or False.

So, I'm looking for you all to help me out here.

A friend of mine from work, and I were discussing my FH's deployment time, and I was telling him how hard it was going to be, going with out him, and sex.

He laughed and said "Well it isn't going to be 'HARD' for him."
He laughed again, and I asked, "What does that mean?"

He said, "The Army gives the soldiers a shot so they can't get a hard on while on deployment."

I burst out laughing and called him a liar. He claims the Army did that to his own father, and uncle.

So, I'm wondering should I keep laughing about this, or should I believe him?

My FH, has NEVER told me about this shot, and just something about it just rings untrue.

Help, because I don't like to be made a fool of...LMAO!!!!

UMMMMMMMM...this being our third deployment...my DH has NEVER received a shot! Believe me if he had I would have known!

I'm having a hard time with this one, cause my FH did in fact have several shots before he could be deployed to Iraq.
One was a measles shot in his arm, that much I know for a fact.

When DB was deployed he never received a shot from that. I have asked him about those rumors before and he said it isn't true. At least for him it wasn't. He had a friend in his unit that would masturbate on missions so I know that didn't give him a shot. :D

Not true as far as I know. My dh has gotten a lot of shots but nothing that has ever affected his buddy.

This is my 6th deployment and no such shot. The only thing he may get is an old sock:giggle Either he is telling you a story or the guys are messing with him and he is believing it.

WTF??? I've been a navy wife for YEARS. I mean YEARS. I've never heard of this.

Yep it's FALSE! I asked dh today when he got on. He laughed so hard. He said that it has been a rumor foever. He told me a story about a guy when he was in basics that stood in line at basics because somebody told him they put stuff in their eggs too.

dont feel too bad because i have heard this ALOT! actually DB told me the same thing about the food... i obviously dont know if its true but he had the same problem during boot camp and a bunch of other guys agree. but then there are others who say they were fine, who knows. i heard about the shots too so i dont think its THAT funny. im with ya girl!

I heard that once before too, its a myth.

The rumour started circa WWII, when the British troops feared that bromide was put in their tea to prevent erections. I'm not sure that it ever had any truth to it.

I've heard about salt peter too. I heard it was put in the food rations, but I never heard that rumor in regards to the US military. My friend who told me was in the Russian Army, and he swears it was in his food. He swears he felt the effects, and it's how he got through the entire time in service without women. (He was a big time player, so his ability to abstain amazed even him!)

But, my DB has served 26 yrs in the military and he swears salt peter and shots that mimic salt peter are not in usage in the US military, at least not in the Navy. I'm very skeptical - doubtful - there's any truth to such a rumor in the Army either.

As far as all the fraternization with fellow female soldiers, I would like to think that the fear of punishment for fraternizing would scare most men away from doing it. (Loss of rank, discharge, lost pension, etc...) If a soldier values their career, let alone their marriage/relationship, then they wouldn't risk involving themselves in an unauthorized relationship while in service.

I was told the stress of basic/boot camp, deployment is so great that it does affect the sex drive. DB told me he couldn't even think about getting an erection during basic because of the stress. :dunno I guess every guy is different.

I could'nt find any myth about the "shot", but I did find something on Saltpeter.
