My problem is that i have a hard time telling the difference between a gift card and a credit card... :lol

i don't have high dollar limits on my cards so it's not that bad...but :duh what a pain!

ugh i'm glad DB isn't like me, what a pair we would be... it's so wierd though because i'm the one that's always been good with numbers and i work in banking etc ... but i just can't seem to follow my own damn advice!! :duh and he's very good about living within his means

Actually credit cards are great! It's how much you spend and don't pay every month that makes them bad. You should never close a credit card account unless say it's one you never use but pay a monthly fee. If you close an account it lowers how much credit you have which then lowers your credit score. You're better off paying off and then cutting them up.
