Probably a dumb question but can dogs have tylenol? Maverick was outside for awhile this morning and came in limping. I felt all around his leg and it didn't really seem to bother him, he didn't pull away or whine at all, so I am pretty sure it is no big deal. But he is just lying down being lazy so I know it is bothering him. So can I give him tylenol or anything else to help him?

when gwen first smashed buddy and he wasn't use to it, he wa so sore he wouldn't even jump up on the couch to cuddle. :(
i made dh go get some children's tylenol. and i gave him one pill. i have no idea how big maverick is, or how much to give him, but just saying that i have indeed given buddy some and it made him feel better.
i hope he feels better soon!

if you inspected his leg & he didn't whine or pull back, it's prolly not a big deal.
some dog's are just wusses & milk it for all it's worth. i've seen a dog w/ a tiny crack in their pad that was barely noticeable 3 legged lame for days.
Tylenol can be toxic to dogs. If you must give medicine you would be better off giving Aspirin.

You could try baby asprin or if you want to give him something that might knock him out for a while to let him rest you could try benadryl. You are always pretty safe with benadryl. 1mg per lb.

This is very true. There was a study on this very issue several years back, because a few dogs died after being given Tylenol. My vet says to give dogs baby asprin.

I gave my dog tylenol before and she was completely fine. I just gave her one pill and wrapped it up in something so she would take it. I don't think it's harmful to give a dog one pill. Unless you have a little dog...I probably wouldn't give a little dog tylenol. -_-

Yes!! This is the best thing you can give him if you can't get him to your vet.
