I was wondering what you guys send and some special stuff that you guys do..
and do you decorate the outside of the box?

i don't decorate the outside, i just tape everything really well & make sure the address labels can't be ripped off easily.

for the items inside: DF usually doesn't need/want much. I try to send treats from home. Yes, beef jerky is a huge hit, i also send trail mix and anything else thats quick. I've also sent games, books, magazines that come in the mail for him, articles that i thought he'd enjoy, i've also made a book of pictures for him as well.

lots of snacks and microwavable meals...DF doesn't like going to the chow hall all the time...umm, photos, cds, books, dvds, video games...whatever else he wants/needs!!! i think i might spoil him a little!

Clif bars...DH loves those and some other random snacks. Dvd's, books, homemade videos...those are his fav!

I don't decorate the outside.. but for like holidays or birthdays I decorate the inside. I make it look like a gift wrapped box turned inside out. I send lots and lots of Slim Jims... he eats those a lot. I also sent the little hand-held travel games. Ummm I send lots of letters with my perfume on them. Those are his favorite thing by far. He asks for those before he asks for anything else.

sunflower seeds, beef jerky, pistachio nuts, protein bars, individual drink mixes (Crystal light, etc), other snacky stuff...

books, DVDs, deck of cards, crossword puzzles, hand-held video games

extra socks, batteries, hand/foot warmers, LOTS of pictures of EVERYTHING...

Dvds, video games because somebody in the shop always takes a gaming system, microwave meals, micro popcorn, jerky, pistachios, socks, REALLY SOFT toilet paper, magazines. If he's gone around a holiday I always do something festive. At easter I sent him an easter bucket with plastic eggs that had treats and little toys-soldiers w/parachutes, bendable bunnies, etc. It's amazing how entertaining those little kid toys are to a bunch of guys far from home. I've sent out nerf balls. According to DH, some of those balls are probably still floating around the Atlantic. LOL For the jerky and nuts I usually buy in bulk and then vaccum seal them into serving sizes. That way he doesn't open a big bag and the rest goes stale. Anything else he asks for I cram them into the box. I love flat rate boxes!
