Mine has pretty much destroyed our tree. :rolleyes I guess its a good thing you didn't take Katrina then, she's trying her best to climb to the top of my tree:giggle. I found some spray that works( but you have to use every couple hours) but it stinks so bad that I can't even spray it.... Wicked 11-26-2007, 12:21 PM Haha, uh, I would keep the tree up for a few days with nothing on it and nothing really in it's way and let the cat go at it. We did that with two of my cats, and as soon as they started climbing and sent the whole thing toppling over with themselves still inside they learned their lesson. Unfortunately I am not so sure that would actually scare the two newest members of my family, so we are just going to forgo the tree. LOL. Maybe some of that bitter apple spray? Cats are supposed to hate the smell of that stuff... Or try putt some double sided tape up the trunk or it so their paws stick? Cats HATE that. Good luck! Jennifer 11-26-2007, 12:30 PM Mine tried that and we attacked them with the squitr gun. They now satay FAR away! =Mrs.AiNokeA= 11-26-2007, 12:31 PM Tips Keep a small spray bottle full of water near the tree. If your cats still go after the tree, a light spritz of water on their back and a stern "NO!" will get the point across. Cats naturally hate the scent of oranges, so keep orange peels under the tree to repel your cat. If its a plastic tree, a small amount of Citronella oil shaken into a bottle of water and misted on to the tree makes is smell unpleasant to the cat but fresh and citrus-like to you. Consider getting a Scotch Pine. They have extremely sharp needles. Also works for curious small children. For small kittens wrap tinfoil around the trunk. They don't like putting their nails into it and it will keep them from climbing the tree. (This won't work for my kitten she plays with tinfoil :lol ) Spray some pine cones with citronella and pile them around the base of the tree. Cats do not walk on pine cones! (also works great to put pine cones in the base of your houseplants). Spray the bottom limbs with tobasco sauce to keep them from chewing the bottom branches. They wince and run away! Decide to make it your cat's Christmas, too. Decide you are not going to get frustrated trying to outsmart your cat this year. Secure the tree to the wall or ceiling to keep it from toppling. Clamp ornaments to the branches with the metal hooks using pliers. Take pictures of your cat sleeping in the Christmas tree branches, and SMILE! >"< I also heard they don't like white pepper, cayenne pepper and read about using lemon pledge I think it was. :dunno Erika 11-26-2007, 12:31 PM I guess its a good thing you didn't take Katrina then, she's trying her best to climb to the top of my tree:giggle. I'm eventually going to go to the store and get a spray bottle and just spray her everytime she gets near the tree. Maybe by Christmas she'll get the point and leave it alone, lol. Waking_Hour 11-26-2007, 12:33 PM Spank them. My cat still goes near it but she doesn't try to mess it up anymore. dotb182 11-26-2007, 12:35 PM Tips Keep a small spray bottle full of water near the tree.
