haha it isnt always like this but it can be and it sucks. We didnt know when he was leaving or where he was going till 48 hours in advance which in the marine corps is the "legal" amount of time that has to be given is his form of work

I agree, date change all the time and my hubbies unit is famous for orders just a few days before, lots of calls, and etc but he always gets his orders late.
Example, he leaves next Monday and we still dont have official orders:vent
Try not to get your hopes up, but hope for the best outcome! I think the hardest part of the preperation was never knowing a exact date and such.

I am still keeping my fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe my dh won't have to go......but then I feel selfish, bc that means someone else's hubby still has to. it's a weird feeling. my dh just got assigned to his unit, and they are supposed to go july 08. this is our first duty station, so i have no real idea of how things work. before he enlisted i didn't really even know anyone in the military, so it is so so new. i try not to get my mind set on any one thing, because i have heard that in the military nothing is ever really set in stone. my new motto is "be prepared to be unprepared"
