Have you ever been set up on a date with someone?

My step mom called me today and left a message on my cell telling me that she set me up on a date and to call her after 8.

I called many times from 8-10:30. I finally got ahold of her but I think she was getting ready for bed. She said she'd call me in the morning. But she did tell me that his name is John. He's a junior at my school and that he's studying computer science.

:freakout

I was set up on a blind date when I was first stationed in Hawaii. One of the senior guys I worked with and his wife set me up with a guy that his wife worked with. The guy went all out and took me on a dinner cruise and bought me flowers. However, it was one of the most miserable dates I ever went on. There was just no chemistry and you can't force that no matter how much a guy spends on the date.

well not a 'blind-date' per se.... but my friend from HS took it upon herself to play matchmaker and set up a double-date with my current boyfriend....

Yes. Not by my mom or step-mom though. I was set up on a date with my first real boyfriend by one of my best friends. She was dating his best friend at the time. And then my now SIL set me up with their cousin. I didn't like him so I rambled on about my ex. :giggle And then she told her brother (my now hubby) that I wanted his number. I guess she was determined to have me in the family somewhere. :lol

Never have been, but it might be a good experience! My brother is a computer science major and he's pretty darn amazing :teehee I suppose I might just a tad biased, though!

No idea about fix-ups. My bff tried it once, and that was when I realized we had *vastly* different tastes. :duh He was a sweet guy, I just felt bad 'cos I was so not interested.

Re: comp sci guys. They're hot. But... uh... I might be biased. Some of them are prolly really awkward though... but they're always really smart!

I've been there. A very good friend from my school's speech team set me up with his best friend from elementary school. It didn't work, at all. This guy cried more than I do... which is kinda interesting, since I so seldomly do.

When I found out his name, my step mom said it was John. Or maybe I heard her wrong. Or maybe she heard him wrong. Cause I got a friend request on facebook from a guy named Chung. Which kind of sounds like John.... Kind of. Anyway, I find this very weird because a girl sometime ago requested me and I accepted even though I don't think I've ever met her because she went to a different HS than me. But they have the same last name. So it could be her brother or something which is kinda crazy. lol

I got some more info. His name is Chung, not John. Lisa misheard. He's Vietnamese. 23 years old and 5'11". When she said he was very cute, she said it enthusiastically. So I guess he is cute. He's average weight.

I still want to see a picture of him.
