Well, I cant sleep. Im too busy counting down until he leaves on Thursday...Im just curious, what was the last thing you said to your DB/DF/DH before he deployed? Do you regret not saying something or wish you would have done things differently?

My situation was a little different, I said my goodbyes 2 weekends ago, sobbing in front of a Louisiana airport. I wish that I could have been stronger, kissed him and little longer, and hugged him a little harder. I still get to talk to him on the phone before he leaves, I just have this awful feeling that im going to be a mess, and I know thats not what he needs before he goes.

well, i think there are things that we all wished we could have done a little more...but in the end we did what we could and that is the best we can do...

i was just like you, the two goodbyes...it's really hard because you have to let part of him go before he actually leaves, the physical part...then when he actually deploys you have to let go of the ability to contact him too, and that is even harder...

i wouldn't worry too much about breaking down because he will be there for you, but even so try to make your last moments count by telling him how much you love him and try to remain positive for both of your sakes :hugehug

I had to say mine twice too .... she left for basic ... and yes I am a male. But anyway, I just kept reminding her I would be here for her waiting to hold her again no matter what. I kept telling her how proud I am and how incredible she is for doing this. I never wanted to let go .... but I did and I still tell her via snail mail how I feal and that I am still hers no matter what. The fact that I am proud of her and that I am waiting for her is what she says keeps her going. (L)

I think I said something along those lines at the airport too..."ok, just leave and get it over with already"...it's hard, so definitely understandable!

don't worry he will probably be a mess to. DH and I only got to say goodbye on the phone as well and we said our face to face goodbyes at a new york airport (it was REALLLLLLLY SAD)

i basically said I love you, and be safe...and reminded him of how much i love him

Lets see. We wanted the last person for him to say bye to to be me. But when he started boarding the bus we hugged and kissed and then he said bye to his mom dad sis and my mom and dad and while he was hugging his dad he looked at me and said wait baby dont leave (I was walking over to the Master Srgnt becuase he was very kind to talk to the family members and I didnt want to miss it) So again we hugged and I said I am going to miss you so much and he said I am going to miss you even more...Then I Love you and I love you too. A kiss and he got on the bus. As the bus was driving away I looked at it and he had his window open and he blew me a kiss. I bew one back and he put it in his pocket. and that was our goodbye. I could not have imagined it going any better. It was romantic and so memorable

only one goodbye for me and well we were running late to the airport, he jumped out of the car I ran tot he back of the car while he was getting his bags out and we hugged a kiss and an I love you be safe. I wish we would have kissed more, I sure as heck miss those kisses

we had 2 goodbyes...one in person in his driveway and one on the phone...i really believe the one on the phone was more emotional than the in person one because he was ON the plane when we said goodbye

the first goodbye I didn't want to make to hard, so I kissed him and said come home to me...we said our i love yous...and hugged and cried a little and then I drove away...I knew that i couldn't look back at him because I would have just wanted to stay with him forever...

We had 1 goodbye. I was able to wait with him until they had to leave to go to a different location to do accountability. I left him at 6 am on that dreaded day. We hugged and we kissed bye. I said I love you bubbies and come home to me safe. He said I love you too bubbies and you stay strong for me. =( It was the worst day. I went home and cried all day and that was 2 days ago...

they let me goto the gate with him because he was deploying overseas, so I was there until he had to board the plane. The last thing I said to him was that I loved him. It was so cute because before that happened we were hugging then right there for some strange reason we started dancing lol like slow dancing and he was like its the last dance. :sigh I miss him

I said "before you know it I iwll be right back here to pick you up" we kissed I hugged him told him I loved him and turned around to walk out before he could see me cry. THEN I went to the parkinglot and did $2500 worth of damage to his NEW truck he left with me for the year....yeah before he even bored the plane I had called him to tell him and ask for his insurance info. I was a mess it the worst. We laugh about it now!!

This was at the airport before he went back to 29 Palms about 3 days before they deployed...He said "well, this is where I go.... " and I said "Oh, well, OK, see you later" and we kissed... (just a little peck, because he was being lame) and he said "nice hat babe" and touched the bill of our matching hats and then walked away...

He txted me as they were loading the plane to Maine, and called me right before the loaded up to depart from there. I told him I'd miss him, and be thinking about him and waiting for him and to be safe, keep making me proud, and to hurry up and come home so we could go to Alaska like he wants :lol :wub

well, i said my goodbyes 2 weeks ago also, he deploys very soon...like you i was sobbing in an airport while he was trying to keep his emotions in check...and after trying to let go of his hands so many times i gave him one last hug,he said "im sorry this is so hard baby" and i told him to "make sure i got to do that again"..meaning, crying at the airport...i know it sounds strange...but i would rather be crying at the airport than the alternative...i was trying to be funny, and make things lighter...but its a sentence i cant forget..

I said Be SAFE and I love you now leave before I really start to cry.

that little stinker called my cell phone after that (I had no signal, so I did not hear it ring) when I heard the message it said "NO, I love you more babydoll, :teehee

Well...the first time I had to say goodbye...when I thought that was the last chance id get to see him...

we were both barely awake because I had to leave his house at like 4am or something to drive back home...we just hugged and I told him I loved him and I would miss him and then I drove off...

the second time...which was last week!...it was basically the same...neither of us can really get words out when we have to say goodbye...it was "I love you"s and "welp....see you in ten months I guess..." hugs and kisses and walk away...

it hurts us both more I think to make it a big ordeal...the minute he left tho I started texting him hahahah and he texted me at 2 am because he couldnt sleep saying that he missed holding me already...


man now im crying....with this and watching that jason meadows music video and not being able to hear his voice...
