This is taken from a post in the venting section. Do you feel that supporting or not supporting the war is equal to wanting or not wanting the war? I personally don't think so. I support the reason we are there, but I wish there wasn't a war. I think that just because you support the reason behind it doesn't mean you WANT war. I don't think anyone WANTS a war. What do ya'll think?

Supporting & Agreeing are two different things.

You can support people for actions they took, yet still disagreeing on the action.

I can support my husband, the troops and our actions there and still not want us to be there and disagree with the reasons we are there.

I agree with why we are there and support that reason. Do I want us to HAVE to be there no. Do I want a war going on .. no. But it is what it is.

No one wants war.

IMO, you can support the reason we went in to Iraq (or not support it) and still not WANT war.

I think there ARE people with no morals who DO want war simply because it makes their pocketbooks fatter.

With this war in particular, I don't support the "reasoning" behind it.... and I don't support the continuation of it. I think it was a HUGE HUGE mistake that's cost us greatly.... our kids will be paying for years to come... our reputation as one of the greatest countries in the world has gone to shit, and our own country is torn in half. I do not support the Iraq war. But to be fair, I don't support any war in general. I support diplomacy and believe that with the right players (i.e. not this administration), it would work wonders.

I DO support the troops wholeheartedly. I can't even begin to fathom the incredible, heroic sacrifices they make daily.... and I can't even begin to express my appreciation for all they do. It breaks my heart that our leaders don't take action to take better care of them... especially after putting them through such hell. :sadeyes

This is EXACTLY how I feel. See Heidi, now you are talking for me! :D

Honestly, I don't even know what the reasons for us being there are... Anyone who agrees with the reasons for the war feel like enlightening me because at this point I really have NO IDEA.

Well, uh... which version of the story would you like? :giggle

Story #1: 9/11 is Bin Laden's fault, so we should invade Iraq and remove Hussein from power. :puzz
Story #2: They have WMDs. (We just can't find them, or any trace of their existence. :duh)
Story #3: Lets invade Iraq for the hell of it..... YEE-HAW!:tu

I agree with you 100%. My DB's orders have him active even after this deployment so I am really, really hoping that congress can keep Jr. out of Iran... for all our sakes.

I support what we are doing there now. I have no idea what the reasons leading the decision to invade were and at this point I think it is moot.
I do not think you have to agree to support the troops. Obviously, we spouses and military members want this war the least of all...

You said exactly what I feel Heidi. I feel our Nation was lied to inorder to get our "foot" in the dor & now I think we continue to be lied too in order to remain there. Especially with the news article that just came out that has Bush basically making deals for oil.

This is EXACTLY how I feel. See Heidi, now you are talking for me! :D

Honestly, I don't even know what the reasons for us being there are... Anyone who agrees with the reasons for the war feel like enlightening me because at this point I really have NO IDEA.

I agree Trina, my DH says that many of the people on the ground have no idea WHAT they are fighting for. It is very frustrating for them because most of the guy's & gals want to be doing good.

Well, uh... which version of the story would you like? :giggle

LOL that is about how it goes isn't it. The story has changed SO much. We went in there NOT to take over, NOT to liberate but to find WOMD. NOW the story has changed BUT I remember what Bush was saying when he was whipping the Nation into a frenzy. Doesn't matter to me that he has changed the tune about 10 times now.

I DO NOT support this war, nor do I support the politics that put our Nation in this position. I do not agree with it, I do not feel we are over there for anything more then rights to oil.

I DO support our troops 100%. It is not there fault our Nation's leaders appear to be asshats.

I dunno I didn't think the first one was a good enough reason either. Iraq had never attacked us the UN had said everything was under control/good to go and yet WE never heard that on American news. I feel we as a Nation were and continue to be scammed.

It boggles my mind that after the oil/bases in Iraq story broke that anyone would still feel our leaders didn't make a run for the money ummm oil. Course I am a left wing nutball what do i know. :)

Me too apparently. There area lot of things that show some VERY suspicious behavior coming from this administration... so much that it just can't be a coincidence anymore. But, I am liberal, far-left, a nutjob, pinhead, and whatever other name Bill O'Reilly wants to call me and people who think like me. :rofl Apparently that means I have NO IDEA what's going on. :giggle
