FROSTING
5 Tablespoons flour
1 Cup milk
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1 Stick butter (softened)
1/2 Cup Crisco shortening
1 Cup superfine sugar (or granulated)
Combine first 3 ingredients in small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. ring to a boil just until thick; cool in refrigerator. Beat remaining ingredients until creamy (about 15 minutes) at high speed. Scrape sides of bowl and add cold custard mixture. Blend together. Add food coloring if desired. Spread on cake.
