I guess beer drinkers are as harmful to the planet as cow farts (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6040000/newsid_6046900/6046962.stm) :shrug
I thought this was something out of the Onion at first, but it came from FNC..

"People need to understand the impact of their lifestyles," British environmental consultant Joanna Yarrow tells New Scientist magazine. "Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge are not hitting home. This research helps inform people — let's hope it has an effect."
The problem is that the beer fridges are mostly decades-old machines that began their second careers as beverage dispensers when Canadians upgraded to more energy-efficient models to store whatever Canadians eat besides doughnuts and poutine.
Can I just say real quick, that I am about an hour away from Canada... I'm so close that I do indeed have the Canadian accent, and I say "eh" all the time when I talk... I don't know any Canadians to eat doughnuts, but the ones I know drink alot of Kokanee, and eat alot of venison... HOWEVER..
I'm slightly surprised that someone who claims to be a professional environmental consultant (and would want to be taken seriously by the rest of the world) would refer to Canadians as "beer-drinking-doughnut-eaters" when they are CLEARLY back bacon eating-chopper wearing-took sporting-hockey fans. I'm sure she's never even been to Canada..
We have an "auxilary fridge/freezer" in the garage, and it's about ten years old. We store our wild game out there. This is the food that was harvested during hunting season, or raised free-range locally.
I'd be willing to bet that we save more in methane emmissions by NOT contributing to the livestock industry via semis, slaughterhouses, meat packaging plants. Blah....
I give up... :irked
